Spring Granny Square Swap

Beautiful quilt.

After my last post I reaized I could make the afghan 10 squares x 13 squares, which is a more workable shape than 11 x 12. It also means I have only five more to do. Maybe I'll finish them as the squartes arrive. That would be fun.

Thank you for the kind words on the quilt. Hope to get batting soon and get it finished and then start on the hunting theme one for my other grandson who is 12 and loves to go hunting.

Well, ladies, they're on their way. My husband helped me take them to the post office this morning. Now all of you can be watching for the package and anxiously awaiting to see what you received. Believe me, there is a wide variety and I tried not to give you any of your own squares back. I can see the top of the bed now since all the boxes are gone.

Now we can wait until the next swap. I hope we have as good a turn out as we did with this one. Thanks everyone for your contributions above the number required. Let me know when you receive your boxes. Have a good day!

I am so thrilled and can hardly wait.

On a different note here's the chicken coop my husband made from all recycled material from the porch we tore down and an addition from our old mobile home. A little more siding and he's finished. I need your thoughts of putting a ceiling fan with lights in it. (we have two we don't need) Would it cause to much of a draft? The coop measures 13x16 and I have a storage room also, it measure 6x16. Total building is 19x16.

I don't remember who got that bag. I had a good laugh over it though. Maybe someone will tell us when they receive it. I love that coop. It is so pretty and green where you live. I'm envious. How hot does it get where you are? I could see a fan here since we get some days of 117 but in an area that doesn't get hot you might not need it. I use no light or heat in my coops and my chickens do fine. I do have shade cloth over their pens though and it helps to keep them cool and misters too when very hot.

I just finished crocheting a doily for a friends birthday. It was all white in the pattern but I turned flowers that were crocheted seperately and joined as I went along in lavender which is her favorite color. When I get it blocked I will take a picture to share.

Time for me to get the Masonic Newsletter out so think I'll play with that a while. Good night all......

In the summer it gets into the 90's at times. The humidity is awful though, makes it seem alot hotter. Yes everything is finally getting green, garden is almost all in. In the winter it gets dark around 5pm, so I'm thinking a light would be good. And it gets pretty cold, sometimes below zero so I've done the 2x4 roost so they sit on their feet to keep them warm

It doesn't get that cold here. I think the coldest since I've lived here has been around 10-15. That seems colder when we have the desert winds blowing also. I do miss seeing green. I lived in VA and NC for many years and that's about as green as it gets and I miss it but the desert has a lot going for it also. There are no fleas or ticks, no mosquitos and very few fly's. We do have ants, fire ants also as well as scorpions and lizards and snakes. We see lots of birds when they migrate. Even the snow geese settle here for a few weeks to rest up and feed before going on. We also get turkey buzzards. Well, at least when the wind blows or it's too cold I have inside time to crochet and quilt. I have the most beautiful view of the Sierra Mountains as my front porch faces west. I can see it snow or rain in the mountains even though we may not get it. The window where my sewing machine is faces the mountains also.
