Spring Granny Square Swap

Very nice squares. I wish we didn't have two months to wait

I'm wanting some now. I have to get mine "bagged and tagged" as they say, then I'm ready to send them off

But I think I'll wait just a little because I don't think Betty will want to hold onto them that long ahead of time.
47 little chicks here and I have one that just keeps climbing on my arm and trying to escape the brooder. I think she's going to be the one who challenges me.

I took the Queen (GD) to TSC and bought her some grampa boots so she can go out to the chicken yard with me. Pink with cows on them. She is so cute you know. I also bought her a new tricycle.

We didn't need any chicks cuz I've got a brooder full and plan to set eggs tomorrow too. I need to replace my del hens.

Considering I've got some time to do squares I may try another design. This weather here is good for indoor work. Knitting and Crocheting warms me up and I have to turn down the heat, so that's another benefit of yarn work.

Smitty - very nice.

Wow Kim. You went from none to 1/3 done already! You hook faster than I do! Beautiful!

Rancher you sound like DH and I. We always tease that we are trying to turn all the Grandkids into farmers. They are absolutely nuts about the chickens but who can blame them?

Thank you everyone!!!!

dascountry~ Have fun playing w/ your new babies! What breeds do you have?

Writer~ The shiny yarn is Caron's Simply Soft from my stash. The rest of the yarn is either Red Heart or Lion's Brand Vanna's Choice.

Rancher~ What a sweet grandpa to get your gd new boots! I have one Delaware hen and we LOVE her. She is probably one of the smartest chickens I've ever owned. I want to get more of that breed. I think the rain is coming so it will be an indoor day for me as well.

Sunny~ Haha...I was getting nervous b/c so many people already had so many squares done. Do you recognize the patterns? I'm not that fast, but I'm getting better at learning new patterns.

Well I have to finish feeding all the critters and then drive to St. Louis for a Dr apt. When I get back I'll hurry and finish cleaning the house so I can do a little crocheting. I hope everyone has a great day!

Sunny I look at it this way. At least they'll not go hungry if they can grow something.

Smitty, do you hatch?

Oh yes, I hatch. I haven't used my incubator in a few years, but have some broody girls that I've used to hatch some bought Ameraucana eggs or eggs from my own flock. A few years ago the broodys had an unplanned hatch that resulted in all cockerals. That was a big pain getting rid of extras. I kept one beautiful blue Ameraucana boys out of the batch. What happened is I went out of town and DH didn't collect the eggs all week and one of Am hens went broody. I found her sitting on a ton of eggs. I candled and there was about 7 or so already developing. I teased DH that they were his babies.

I have no idea...just know that 27 are all brown egg layers

And the other 20 all had the same daddy (a barred rock) and 6 different mamas......they are straight run so its gunna be interesting to say the least. Two of the girls have feathered feet, and two are naked necks......thats all I can tell right now.
