Spring Granny Square Swap

Update on incubation....went into lockdown on Saturday and woke up this morning to one new baby chick. Looks good and seems healthy. There is a second pip but no chick yet. I can't see anything new but it's hard to see inside even with a flashlight.

Will be gone tomorrow. I found out my granddaughter that's in the army and at Ft. Irwin, 100 miles from me, can have visitors tomorrow before going out for her 30 day desert warfare training so plan on driving to see her. She is presently based in GA. High winds forecast for tomorrow but that's not going to stop me. my husband got the day off so I won't be traveling alone.

Have a great visit w/ your granddaughter! Can't wait to see pics of your new babies. Give us a report when you return. Happy Hatching!!!!

Kate, I had to change due to not getting my posts. I wasn't even getting PM's. Since I have the new computer that I actually bought to use with my embroidery machine and also use for the Masonic newsletter I decided to change to this machine to see if I get my posts. I do, so the problem may have been my 8 year old PC. Of course I had to have a different e-mail address to do it this way but that's all right since I wanted to have a different one for the Masonic newsletter anyway so I won't mix up personal stuff with the other.

I didn't get to see my granddaughter as they decided to go out in the field a day early. That's the army for you. It's just as well as we have a wind alert for hurricane force winds and that would have made travel hazardous. We hope to see her at the end of her desert training, before she goes back to her base in GA in about 30 days.

Update on hatch....three baby chicks so far. I can't see anymore pips but the day isn't over yet. Those three were early as the 21st day is today. They seem healthy but hope the other eggs hatch also.

I love those blocks. the varigated yarn really makes them pop. We're going to nhave some lovely afghans for sure.

Writer,

I'm not getting to the post office until Thursday, so have time to continue making squares for your students. The question has to do with yarn. Other than a small amount (not enough for a whole square) of pink/lavendar/white variegated yarn, all I have left in the pink/purple/blue/white category are different weights than we've been using and some are wool. Would your students want squares made of these? I'd continue using the G hook with the hope of maintaining the gauge. If they don't want them, I can stop making squares and just send you some of the yarn.

What would you like me to do?

Alethea anything you send will be greatly loved and appreciated! After this Friday we will be out for 2 weeks so if anyone is mailing anything to us please wait or use my home address.
We were working on new patterns for squares after school today so everyone, including those not in the swap, could continue working over the Spring Break. Some of them are really nice, others look like 2 cats had a fight in a bag of yarn lol! But they are working so hard on them and even those just doing it for fun will have a lot to work with.

Just got the power back on since the big storm here in northern Michigan on Friday. Its been a chore with the little chicks with no light available for them. All have done well, but two have been "picked" on. One around her neck and the other by her tail. Any suggestions?

The sqaures that have been posted look wonderful! I am so excited about receiving them.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure about the variegated yarn. I couldn't remember if I had seen any other blocks with it, but I love using it so I gave it a try.

Help please!

I went to Walmart last night and picked up some green and some green/blue variegated to go with it. When I got home and started on a square I discovered there was yellow in it. Here's the 'finished' block. What do you think? Enough yellow to mess things up? Or let it go and keep making blocks?

(edited for spelling and to correct a lack of manners)

Love the soft green in the middle. The yellow does look odd on my screen but it could just be my monitor. I hate it when I get a color home and it looks so different than it did in the store.

Pretty pattern though!
