Well everyone, I am off tomorrow morning. We received a call at 2 am this morning that Loveda had passed and DH decided he wanted to go to the funeral which is Thursday. Plane fares were out of sight for such short notice and we'd have to rent a car so we decided to drive. The weather is supposed to be good and even with gas prices like they are it would be a third of the cost of flying. It will give us a bit of flexability to maybe see his children and grandchildren also. We will make a quick return home since he has to be at work on Sunday. will let you all know when I am home again.

Good Morning All.
I have a 'strange' request and I hope that nobody will mind.
Have any of you 'met' the BYC member called Nambroth? She has a silly little chicken named Derperella and she's been posting pictures and wonderful little stories since Derp hatched. After a while there were so many folks following the thread and asking for 'Derp Memorabilia' that she put some post cards, mugs, t-shirts, etc out on Zazzle.
My Mom has lung cancer and although she's doing 'ok' for now, she almost never leaves the house because of the O2 and such. When I stumbled across the Derp thread, I called Mom and read it to her (she doesn't have internet). She LOVED it and now asks me almost every day, "What's my little Derpie' up to today.
So - here's the request. I bought some of the Derp post cards a little while ago and I think that my Mom would get a real kick out of receiving cards from Derp sent from all over the country. I checked with Betty last week and she said that she would be willing to help out. What I was hoping is that I could send the filled-out/stamped/addressed cards in with my squares and, if anyone was interested in doing it, Betty would include 1 with the squares being returned to you. All you would have to do is drop it in the mail so it gets a post mark for someplace 'far away'. If you would be willing to do this - could you send me a PM? I'll stick a sticky note with your user name on a card so all Betty has to do is add it to your pile of squares heading back out.
I intend to deny any knowledge of it (to Mom) and just let her have a giggle over this silly chicken sending her cards from all over.

So sorry to hear your Mom is ill but glad she is doing ok right now. Sounds like you are treasuring every moment with her! So awesome I'm getting teary eyed thinking about it!

Howdy everybody~

How is everyone doing? Anyone have any more swap pics or peep pics to post.

I'm about to do a little crocheting before bedtime. I think I'm getting close to having my first set complete. I need to count them again.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello....

I have a question,,, I was in Wal Mart looking at yarn and needed the bright yellow,, there was not one skein!! I've noticed several times that yellow and hot pink and purple are not there.
What is everyone's favorite colors?
I like reds, purples,, yellow,, red and purple are always available but yellow isn't!

So the weather got nice and I've been working on this hoop coop. I've got chickens that want to go outside. I've got SFH's that I understand can go over my fence but I don't care at this point I just want them out and in their own coop.

I have to work why the sun is up. Lord only knows how long the nice weather will last. Saw a Hawk yesterday eyeing my birds. Anyhow haven't worked on the squares lately. I will get to them though.

Hi Kim! I know I owe you some updated pics of chicks. The first set are already outside in their new coop. They still have lights on them though. It's still to cold for them to go without.

Red is my favorite color followed closely by orange then green. I also like most blues and some purples.

I guess the color of yarn I use depends on the project and who I'm making it for. This winter I used a lot of the bulky #5 Lion's Brand homespun yarn. I love it for beanie head huggers b/c it's so soft and warm. What ya making?
