Thanks for posting that Betty. I'd be happy to share the pumpkin bread recipe. It is evil good! It's not my family recipe, but my friend's hubby's Greek grandma's.

I fell in love w/ it my first bite and she shared it with me. We love anything pumpkin here. My daughter makes pumpkin oatmeal sometimes. One Thanksgiving I made pumpkin creme brulee.

I spent the morning trying to pick up around the house what fell apart when I was working on DD's room. I had a Dr apt in St. Louis and didn't get back home until late afternoon. Then it was back to DD's room touching up the paint. I'm horrible at the fine tuning edging part. I think I'll paint the inside of the closet walls and shelves tomorrow. If I would of had my way I would have done the painting and then install the floors, but had to do it when hubby had the time. I need to pick up felt & coasters, so her furniture won't scratch the new floor. Whew..

My computer is too slow for the links. I have to go to the libraruy to look up and print off patterns. I have a wonderful book, 200 crochet blocks by Jan Eaton that has some nice flowers in squares and just a ton of nice patterns. I think I will be doing quite a few before I get it right.

Betty thank you so much for that recipe!!! I will try it when family comes for Christmas. They will love having home-made fresh baked bread!

Kim thanks in advance! I look forward to it! I also love most everything pumpkin. I've made pumpkin creme brulee also but I make a very low sugar version for my parents who are both diabetic. It is very good but I prefer the full sugar version myself.

Ok here's the yummy pumpkin bread recipe. I don't use 3 c of sugar. I think I've cut it back to 2 cups. I think I add reg raisins & golden raisins. I always make one plain for DD b/c she likes to savor the pumpkin by itself. LOL!! I've made her best friend one w/ chocolate chips in it.

Pumpkin Bread

3-1/3 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1tsp. nutmeg
1 cup oil
4 eggs
2/3 c. water
2 c. pumpkin (1 reg can)
3 c. sugar
golden raisins, walnuts, and or pecans - optional (but good)

Sift together all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Make a well in the dry ingredients and add the remaining ingredients. Mix together until smooth. Split batter into 2 conventional bread loaf pans that have been greased and floured. Bake for 1 hour or until done.

Kris, I've added you to the list. There is 13 now although we don't yet know how many of (Kate's) Writerofwords class is going to participate. The last mentioned she said 5 but that could increase by the deadline of Feb. 28. We're glad to have you. The more blocks we have the bigger the afghan can be.

I copied the pumpkin bread recipe and I'm going to try it. It sounds yummy. I have a Christmas cake I'm going to try. I don't like the traditional fruitcake due to the hard fruit added but this recipe adds nuts and raisins and cherries so it's worth a try.

Yea I'm hoping we get 30 or more folks to sign up. I did two sets last time and that was just about perfect.

I got that book at a thrift sale for 50 cents along with a couple of other crochet books. What a lucky find.
