Spring Granny Square Swap

Dascountry I am adding you to the list as soon as I send this. It's nice that we have got more active. I need to contact everyone and make sure we're all in. I haven't seen some people on here in a long while. Maybe they were having trouble like the rest of us getting our posts. Yippeeeee! I love that pattern. I must try to copy it. I can usually look at a pattern and figure it out. I am also going to try "crochetcentral.com"

For some of us that have been on here for ages all know about the good work Writerofwords (Kate) does with her students. For you others that are just joining in, she has students at her school into crocheting and quilting and we donate everything from hooks, yarn, fabric and patterns. She's teaching her students things that they wouldn't learn otherwise. Schools have dropped Home Ec and Shop and if parents don't do these things then they don't learn about stuff, especially in impoverish areas.

Hey Betty~ Are we up to 21 participants so far including Writer's (Kate's) students? ~Thanks~

We have 17 that have joined counting writerofwords as one and I think she said five of her students were interested but I understood her to say they would contribute as many needed for one set not that each student would contribute as many blocks as the number of people that have joined. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Kate are you there? Would you please bring us up to date?

here's the yarn. the shades may be a little off due to lighting but you get the idea. The new looking skeins are a green and blue like Baustins. The blue looks more turquoise but it's more baby blue. Some of this I had as you can tell like the lavender.

OMG those are pretty colors! Love them. The colors did not have to be light. Betty explained this earlier. As long as they fit into to the "cool" half of the color wheel they are fine. That means light blue or dark blue etc. is just fine. Those colors are perfect! I have a mix of light and dark colors in my squares but they are all different intensities of cool colors.

Welcome to the swap Dascountry!

Betty~ Kate posted a while back that she thinks 3 or 4 of her students plus her, unless it's changed. I've been worried about getting mine done so I've been trying to keep tabs of the # of participants.

Tomorrow I am heading to the store. Which is Walmart. 45 miles from here

Hawks has only 2 gas stations, post office, bar/resturant, and church. Seventeen miles to the east is Rogers City which is big enough to have a McDonalds

but not big enough for a store that sells craft items, yarn, material, ect. If I can't find what I want at Walmart, a couple more miles and there is a Joanns. Not complaining because we chose to live here and be able to enjoy the wildlife and seclusion. Thank heavens for Hughsnet

Crochetcentral.com give patterns of different size squares. I just printed this one out. I'll work with all the colors in the chair I posted if that's ok.

Gotta get cracking,

rancher

Hi, sorry I can't post from school anymore with all the changes to the BYC site, it blocks a lot of it and it runs so slow anyway it's awful. Ranch I have boys in the quilting and crochet club, they will really appreciate knowing you are doing this.
I have myself and 4 students participating and we have made over 70 total so far, each of us is doing an entire set, but the patterns are all different so be prepared for quite the variety.
We are happy to accept any squares that are deemed not quite right for the swap, my address at school is:
Kate Livingston
Kid's Club
Sunrise Elementary
1000 County Line Rd,
Chaparral, NM 88081

It's a public address so posting it is ok. Heck most of the folks in the hobby section have the address because they send us all kinds of scraps! We love ya'll!
