Spring Granny Square Swap

I need to re-count mine tonight. I can't remember how many I have complete.

I think I'm close to having 1 set complete. I haven't had any time to crochet lately. I didn't anticipate getting many chicks this year, but since DH gave me the go ahead to move forward I'm frantically trying to get things in place.

I've been cruising around the hatching egg section.

Tomorrow a new shipment of day old baby chicks (pullets) comes in at Rural King.

I may want to get some depending on what comes in.

The 2 rescue RIR chicks that they asked me to take are still alive and seem to be doing better & better every day. Ok I will focus and get back to my crocheting tonight....

Hi! As the saying goes, "honey I'm home" What a whirlwind trip.....we covered 3500 miles from Monday am to Saturday pm. We managed to fit in seeing DH's children also but only for a short while. we did spend the night with one daughter but the rest was even quicker only taking a daughter and her husband out for dinner before getting back on the road for home. we were in a hurry trying to beat a winter storm coming in. I thought of Kate as we drove through NM but we were farther north following I 40. The trip went well, so did the funeral and the weather cooperated for us the whole trip except the last 150-200 miles when we had rain. Thankfully it was rain and not snow.

I didn't take any crocheting with me and I should have but I have plenty done and I think I'm almost done with my third set. There is a package at the PO that I think is the first of the blocks. Whoopee!!!! I get to see them first. It sounds like everyone has been busy while I've been gone. We are glad we went as it meant a lot to the niece that cared for DH's sister and the remaining sister that is 95 but it is good to be home. Now to play catch-up with everything. The winter storm only brought us high winds and rain and it blew all day yesterday and was cold. today the wind has died down so I'm out to wash out water pans and fill feeders. My neighbor took such good care of all my animals.

I"m so glad that yall made it home safe and sound. So sorry for the reason for the journey but glad that you were able to spend a little time with family.

Welcome Home!!!

Yea!!! Welcome home Betty!!! So glad you got to see everyone even if it was for such a short time. So happy you did not hit any snow either.

Betty I thought I remembered you saying 20 squares as well. I think you were hoping that Alethea would eventually get settled and you could send hers along in a few months plus it would be nice to have an extra set in case one set gets lost in the mail like almost happened during the last swap. Let us know anyway one way or the other. :)

And Rancher I completely agree with you about our landscapes in this country. We do need to be careful or we will change it for good!

Love the tree project you are doing with the kids there in NM Kate!

Kim how exciting about the new chicks but I know it also means a lot more work to prepare for them. You are going to be one busy camper for the next several weeks! Good luck!

Yes, it's good to be home....I seem to remember us deciding on 20 also. I don't have time to read back and find the discussion but since we are going to divide them equally that would work out. I have two full sets of 20 each and into my third set. If someone is short a few then the extras will compensate.

Alethea your box is the one I picked up at the PO today. Wow girl! You did good. They're just lovely. I sat down and looked at every one of them.

Baby chicks? Kim what fun. My one baby that hatched back in January turned out to be a frizzle and she's so cute with all of her ruffley feathers. she's blonde so I named her Blondie of course.

Thank you all for your well wishes. Loveda lived a good life and a long one. She's in a better place where she can see and hear again but she'll be missed by all.

It was just beginning to be spring in KS with flowering trees and daffodils and green grass in the fields. The dogwoods were not blooming yet though and I was hoping they were. Our trees here are leafing out and my new flowering pear is in bloom. The daffodils are just about finished but my pot of tulips are coming up and my roses have leafed out. I don't know if the rain we had on Saturday will be enough for the desert flowers since they need it in October for them to bloom good in the spring but am hoping for a few. AZ had wildflowers on the side of the road and they were pretty to look at driving along.

I love that name, Loveda. Very pretty. It sounds like you had a lovely drive. I do love the wildflowers in Arizona. I miss the sunsets too!

We have 5 sets of 20 finished.
I'm going to tell the kids on Monday we have to have a raffle to pay for postage!

Wow! That's a lot of squares! Cool!
