I have a 'strange' request and I hope that nobody will mind.
Have any of you 'met' the BYC member called Nambroth? She has a silly little chicken named Derperella and she's been posting pictures and wonderful little stories since Derp hatched. After a while there were so many folks following the thread and asking for 'Derp Memorabilia' that she put some post cards, mugs, t-shirts, etc out on Zazzle.
My Mom has lung cancer and although she's doing 'ok' for now, she almost never leaves the house because of the O2 and such. When I stumbled across the Derp thread, I called Mom and read it to her (she doesn't have internet). She LOVED it and now asks me almost every day, "What's my little Derpie' up to today.
So - here's the request. I bought some of the Derp post cards a little while ago and I think that my Mom would get a real kick out of receiving cards from Derp sent from all over the country. I checked with Betty last week and she said that she would be willing to help out. What I was hoping is that I could send the filled-out/stamped/addressed cards in with my squares and, if anyone was interested in doing it, Betty would include 1 with the squares being returned to you. All you would have to do is drop it in the mail so it gets a post mark for someplace 'far away'. If you would be willing to do this - could you send me a PM? I'll stick a sticky note with your user name on a card so all Betty has to do is add it to your pile of squares heading back out.
I intend to deny any knowledge of it (to Mom) and just let her have a giggle over this silly chicken sending her cards from all over.
