miss buff here was the first in my April hatched flock to begin laying the first week of October, well before anyone else, and has been laying regularly daily since — until about two weeks ago. now no eggs from her. they are 8 months old. (two barred rocks and another buff are laying, and I’m still waiting on my easter eggers!)

does day length impact new layers? I was under the impression they were supposed to lay through their first winter so I’m watching her closely, and I don’t see any obvious signs of illness or issues. she is just as active as the rest and to me she looks good. she is near the bottom of the pecking order and does have peck scabs on her comb or wattles from time to time, but that was also the case while she was laying. there have been no predator scares or anything like that. my other four current layers are still laying daily.

we are in Connecticut and our day length is 9ish hours, I know the older local ladies have already quit by this time!

she is just as active as the others today as my garden cleanup crew.

if you have any ideas, thanks!
