Is the point toward the far back of the comb? That sounds like a rose comb chick

so far the point is all I can see but seems like there should be more in front so maybe.
Edit-just looked at pictures of rosecombs on chicks and that is what mine looks like. Thanks

Update: Orust chicks starting to feather out nicely.

Yep. People like to blame the rooster/cockerel when eggs aren't getting fertilized, never realizing it might the hens that aren't cooperating. And a hen can actually choose to retain sperm or eject it after a breeding.

Ya I'm excited to. Bad thing is power went out here in NC about an hour ago. We've had serious winds today at least on my part of the state. So just broke out the generator incubators back up to temp. Hopefully power won't be out for too long.

I had heard a long time ago that ducks did that so they could choose the mate that fertilized their eggs. I never thought about chickens doing that, my girls aren't that picky I guess.

OH NO! It looks like that offer has expired. When I follow the link it takes me to the fully tricked out 'bator for $250.

I bet if you call them and tell them you saw it on byc they would honor it. Very nice people. I was really happy with mine.
