 Very pretty.  I'm still so happy that you got some to hatch!   Now you can have those separate pens you were talking about or breeding these. 
Ya I'm excited to. Bad thing is power went out here in NC about an hour ago. We've had serious winds today at least on my part of the state. So just broke out the generator incubators back up to temp. Hopefully power won't be out for too long.
 
Yep. People like to blame the rooster/cockerel when eggs aren't getting fertilized, never realizing it might the hens that aren't cooperating. And a hen can actually choose to retain sperm or eject it after a breeding.


I had heard a long time ago that ducks did that so they could choose the mate that fertilized their eggs. I never thought about chickens doing that, my girls aren't that picky I guess. ;)
