Would it be ok for me to put my eggs into lockdown tonight? (end of 17th day) I need to leave early in the a.m. and won't have time to make sure temps and humidity are stable.

A day early won't hurt. Best to get things right anyway! Good luck, I'm in lock down, day 20. Still no pips. So, since it's day 20, I took a couple out and candled..they still have a good day left before even a pip should happen. Maybe tomorrow...good luck again.

Good luck! Hope you have pips soon! It's so exciting after eggs go into lockdown. My son is hoping for a pretty serama roo for fair. So fingers are crossed that we will get one. My anxiety is a little higher this time around after reading how difficult it can be to hatch them, and they were shipped so that makes it harder but it looks like only 2 have saddle air cells, and only one of those is pretty bad, the other seemed to have corrected itself over time.

I wish it was their birthday! They still aren't due to hatch for another week!

So silly me. Set 6 more Silkie eggs today. No more! 31 total set. Hatch will go on for 3 days. I couldnt resist. My 4 pullets hatched August 2015 have all started to lay this week!

Thank you! Yes they are my babys 2 of the 18 atleast. The male in my avatar pic is my 4 year old Indian Blue named Mayur, he win 1st place in the Most striking male fowl contest I'm still excited about it lol!

They are beautiful. . My husband keeps talking about wanting to get some peafowl.

Since this is my first hatch (and first hatch along) please excuse a silly question:

I thought lock down meant leave them alone. Is it just a phrase? Can we open the bator the last three days without harmful effects?

Lockdown is when you remove the turner and set the eggs for hatch. And raise your humidity.

It should be ok to open the bator until you see an external pip.
