"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

OK, start the timer. I set my Icelandic eggs this morning. I ordered 8 and she sent 12

. Two broke during shipping. One of the eggs didn't have a rounded end. Both ends looked the same. I candled it and didn't see a air sac. I went ahead and set it also but I'm not feeling good about that one. Now, we wait....and wait....and wait....(Can you tell that I'm impatient?)

@Sally Sunshine
Here is my day 7 air cells on the serama eggs. It looks like some lost quite a bit, while others...not so much.
What do you think? Should I adjust the humidity at this point? Thanks.

what are you running at? 55? I would recandle day 10 let it go and see what loss is

10 perfectly intact eggs have arrived, though one of them is a bit oddly shaped. Should I stick it in the bator or just throw it out?
I would

@Sally Sunshine I made an article that I have been working on.. how do I share it with you.

ADDED TO OP thank you DEAR!!!

OK guess I'm not using the incubator. The duck decided to sit so letting her try on her own hatch day is April 25th she is on either 4 or 5 eggs. She started sitting on the 28th

awesome!!!

Got my quail sold today. Kept one back to stay with my injured hen. Wynonna now has one quail chick and one Saphire/OE chick. Both are white. She is tired of being hurt. She had quit eating and drinking which is why I gave her some company. Her left leg and hip are damaged. I think she was stepped on by an over enthusiastic roo or a full sized chicken friend the Sapphire, Tizzy. The bones seem to be in the right place but she seems to have reduced feeling and motion in the leg. Left on her own she lays on her right side and extends the leg behind her. Today I am trying something else and tied her leg in the flexed position with a bandana. Hopfully this will help. She is a little bantam Silver Penciled Wyandotte.

I've got both my bators sanitized and drying. Nothing like the last minute!!

Quote: GOOD NEWS!!!!! come on babies!!!

I've never been this scared and reluctant to set eggs. This isn't my first (second or third) hatch. It's not even my first (second or third) hatch this year. They're just staring at me.

Current fear: baby sitter will adjust the thermostat in the house (she wears sweatshirts in summertime) and fry the eggs.

End of day 20 we have a pip on the wrong end...so I'll be watching that one closely. Several eggs rocking, and quite a bit of chirping!

Yes, I've been trying to keep it mostly at 55 but sometimes it's between 50-55. I will leave it as is and candle in 3 days.
