Squatting Question

Ok, my little EE is squatting, but not laying. How long after they start squatting do they lay? Or is it at the same time.

Another question. Everytime I reach for my Red Star she squats is it a bad thing to pet them when they do that? Does it give them the wrong idea?

If they are squatting then they are close to laying. My 7 month old
white silkie just started squatting and laying within the last 10 days.

Yes my WHITE SILKIE and no I'm not MASSAGING HER. (she is sorta cute)
