Starlight’s Training Adventure!

Lol! I love tack shopping! Even if I don’t do it very often! ;) Last time I went I got sugar a halter with unicorns on it!

Do you have a color in mind to get her?
Hummm... I haven’t really thought about it. Usually I get her purple halters. (she is on her second halter. She out grew the first one I got for her quite quickly) What color do you think would look nice on her?

Star has gotten so good at rotating her hindquarters so I started teaching her to rotate her front end! We worked for about 40 minutes total but some of that time was spent with her bucking and rearing about. I learned today that star gets frustrated if she doesn't understand what I am asking. And then the rearing and bucking start, sometime directed toward me. So how can I be more clear about what I am asking?

Did she manage to do what you asked during those 40 minutes?
If she did it, or even started to do it, you can get her to do it again or work your way up to it again. I’d probably keep the session a bit shorter though. Not the whole thing, just the working-on-something-she’s-having-trouble-with part.
Even if she isn’t getting it, don’t push her to the point of frustration - for either of you - just move on to something she already knows so you can end on a positive note and try again later. Perhaps try different gestures or tones if she’s getting it confused with something else you’ve taught her?
You don’t want her to feel like working with you is a chore or something to become resentful over :)
It’s good that you’ve seen her get frustrated. Now you’ll know what signs she gives that she’s heading in that direction and can hopefully prevent it from getting to that point in the future.

As for what colour to put on her, pretty much any rich colouring will “pop” whether it’s electric blue, hot pink, or pretty much any colour you like ;)

Ok, thank you so much! Yes, by the end of it she rotated her front end two steps on both sides. I usually only work with her in 20 - 30 minutes session so I will try to make sure that I don’t go over that. Thank you so much for all of your help! I will let you know how it goes today!

I'm like a kid in the candy store on the rare occasions we go to the tack shop. :gigI never end up getting anything, unless we find something we're looking for (mostly clothes lol) but I can't not stare at the pretty saddles and pads and, well, everything.

Keeping with the purple scheme would be pretty, or a light blue or an electric blue like SA farms said would look nice I think! But you do what you want lol.

Lol!
I am starting to like the idea of electric blue... it would really pop on star! :D

Star did great for me today and actually surprised me quite a lot! So, this morning I decided to take the longer walk to turn her out, and she had plenty of energy to get out during that. So we worked through quite a few spooks but we got to the pasture gate and I turned her out. Well, I come out this afternoon expecting to have a bit of a hard time with Star, since she was so spooky this morning, and because I know how she did yesterday. But Star completely surprised me! Yes, she did spook a couple times but it was a very little spook and ended quickly. (nothing like what she was doing this morning) We worked a little on rotating her front and hindquarters, then I hosed her off and put her in her stall. I even took her temperature because I was so surprised by her! Her tep. was completely normal, so a guess she was just in a good mood today!
