Which breeds do you suggest for hot summers? Best places to purchase them?

Many heat hardy Mediterranean breeds are lean, have large combs and lay white eggs, like Leghorns and Andalusions. But Easter Eggers also do well in the heat and lay greenish eggs. Welsummers are another good choice and lay dark brown eggs. You could always go with a mixed flock and not only have colorful chickens, but a colorful egg basket too.

Even with heat tolerant breeds, providing enough ventilation in the coop is really important... and choosing a location in the shade will help.

Welcome to BYC. I'm also in Arizona, in the Phoenix area.

I like Naked Necks, you'll find a few of us do for their heat tolerance although most of us have other breeds. Often the NN gene has been bred into mixes for egg laying or meat along with heat tolerance depending on goals.

Hope to see you over on the AZ thread!
And, they can lay pretty green/blue eggs when they have the right mix in them. :) Love Nn's with the bow ties.

One of those blue eggs came from the second Nn pictured.
