Starting a hatch September 21....hatch along?

You are soo cute.. lol
Ok so do you actually vomit? or are you just queasy most of the day? I'm the latter... i haven't actually hurled my guts yet.. and I can count on 1 hand how many times i did during my last 3 pregnancies. I found that if you feel queasy.. eat some yogurt. it's protein and have probiotics in it ... that seems to help. then there` is your common ginger and or peppermint tea... the saltines. I have my own milk cows so i drink raw milk when i'm queasy too... that helps.
but i don't want to turn this into a preggo post... so PM me.. and we'll chat.
I don't typically puke, I just wish I could because I'm almost sure it would make me feel better. I had some Greek yogurt with raspberries last night and I did feel better after that. Maybe I'll have to keep doing that! I also found that milk helps! DH usually brings me a glass before I even get out of bed in the morning. He's a gem!

I have 5 developing and 2 maybes, I really hope they hatch because I paid $55 for them. If they do hatch, it will be worth it.

Also I have this experiment going that I am surprised to say is working. I wanted to find a way to watch the embryo develop without candling, so I let 2 eggs sit for a week (just 2 from my barn) in order to let their air sac's grow. I then removed the top half of the shell by breaking into the air sacs and taking away as much shell as posible without damaging the clear inner membrane. Next I painted the clear membrane with clear nail polish and put them into the incubator. One never developed but the other is on day 8 and is very strong! I haven't been taking pictures like I was going to, but once these silver laced eggs hatch, I'll try this to 2 dozen eggs and actually take records and daily pictures for my biology teacher and of course, those on BYC. I not sure that it will hatch, but I'm super excited being able to watch it and I pray it does hatch though it may need assitence. I don't think any one has every done this before with nail polish, so I'm super happy!

Oh, and I want to name the little embryo to help cheer him on, what do you guys think? I'm horrible with names, but I think it should have something to do with the nail polish.

Sending the best of luck for everyone else's eggs!

I think I'll join in here!

We set 6 fertile eggs under our broody little bantam cochin. I candled last night but this is our first time, and I wasn't sure what I was seeing. Is it normal for the vein/black dot mass to be more on one side than the other? Meaning, is it normal for all that stuff to not fill the whole egg yet? I'm pretty sure I didn't see any blood rings.

Is anyone else on here setting eggs under a hen?

This is our sweet Roxanne, on her nest she chose under a bush between the coop and a fence. We roped a tarp above her to keep rain off. We are still having warm days--no frosts, so I haven't worried about the cold for her and her eggs.

I'm excited and nervous to candle again tonight.

I just candled and I was a little bummed. I only have 5 that I'm sure are still going and a few more maybes.

DH is probably ready to kill me.

Six are "junior" eggs from my girls and I'm experimenting with four refrigerated store bought eggs (evil eggs, I know; but, I was desperate because my girls weren't laying enough for my baking needs....or so I thought....one of the girls buries the eggs in the nesting box

). I'm not expecting anything from them, but, I've heard as long as the eggs don't freeze, the egg is still viable (6 or 7 of the other 8 eggs from the carton were fertile). We shall see! How is it going so far for all of you?

Pm Me hun!! I'll gab all about babies and pregnancy!!

Ok so I candled my eggs and it looks like all 7 are viable. We'll see who actually hatches out.
AHHH! Congrats!! My mom is 7 weeks away from having #11 (yep, you read that right.) Babies are awesome! Just remember to get what sleep you can right now.

I'm candling tonight, might even put up a pic or two of all the eggies in the bator. Temp is holding steady at 99.7 degrees.

I just love my cochins, I really pray that theses silver laced cochins hatch. I just had a broody hatch 2 weeks ago. And yes, your eggs are developing perfectly. The mass with veins and such slowly spreads around the egg, mine are on day 5 and the overall yolk mass is about half the egg. I'd say by day 10 you'll see veining all the way aroung the egg.

If you don't mind, may I jump in on this thread? I'm new to hatching, and I'd love to learn.

I set on Sept 23. I'm using a Brinsea Mini Eco Advanced. I put 5 eggs in. The 6th egg had a slight crack in it, so I got rid of it. I have no idea what they are. The owner had too many chickens and he could not figure out who laid the eggs. The only thing I know is the rooster is a Salmon Faverolles. His name is Fudge - which is why the bottle of Fudge is in the picture.

This is my first time attempting to hatch. It is a science experiment of sorts - as we set eggs that had been refrigerated for up to 4 days. Honestly, I wasn't expecting any of them to be viable. The white egg was easy to candle - so far we have a bouncing little embryo. Yay! One of the brown ones looked like it *might* be viable - not sure, it was hard to see through the shell. And, I couldn't see through the shells of the olive eggs at all.
