Starting to think I have 2 roosters

I am in the same boat! I got 3 new bantams, and my Sebright is definitely a cockerel, and I think one of the two Silkies is, too. I'm going to try to keep them both because I love them so much and because it's darn near impossible to rehome a roo without him ending up on a dinner table. I'll have 2 roos and 6 hens. I am building a second coop/run just in case...

I wish us both luck! We are going to need it...

Yes! Silkies are neat, super cool looking! Fingers crossed for us!

Here are 3 pics from right now... question though, at 13 weeks, if she were a he, wouldn’t t he have those spurs on the back of his legs? My Leghorn Roo does, but not this one.

Handsome cockerel. The lack of spurs at this point is not at all unusual....comb relative to age, coloring and emerging saddle feathers all tell the tale

Thanks guys! I truly, truly am bummed. I am not sure what I will end up doing. I was sad that Foggy turned out to be a he. I know this is the risk we take though. I LOVE Penguin's coloring, it's like a beautiful grey webbing. Aunt Angus, I see you're from Sacramento, I am as well. :)

I'm so sorry!!! :( If I didn't already have two cockerels of my own, I'd take him. I'm in the county. We can have roos out here.

Same. Rio Linda here. Our enclosed coop does have 2 sections, so it's a possibility that I can turn it into 2, and just put an even amount of girls, with each boy in either section. We'll see.

I am going to try to keep mine together (at first). They have been raised together, so hopefully a pecking order has been established. If not, I will add a second coop/run.

(I apologize if I'm repeating an earlier post. I have been posting about my 2 roo dilemma all over the place, and I forget where all I said it - LOL)
