Love Lawndreeroom. Glad you got the big animals over there. I hope Jack and Diana settle in quickly. Are the emu's running the fence?

Thanks for reminding me that we left the chickens and turkeys at the other house Kelly!

The emus and goats are just wandering around looking the new place over. They love the area way up at the top of the hill, except for Stuart who is fixated on the passing cars. Go figure.

Diana and Jack have settled in. They came running from the other end of the property when we went out to feed them. They had obviously been rolling in the dry grass. I think they are going to be quite happy here with all the room to roam. They had lots of space at the old house too but the shape of this is just different. I can't wait until the first time I drive in or out on the road and see them down at the corner under the shade trees. The horses that were boarded here hung out there a lot when it was hot. The emus and goats seem to enjoy the area under the olive trees. Molly's brother was back this morning and cleared that area off so it is clean and flat for them. He will be back tomorrow morning to mow the dry grass. I am excited to see what this property actually looks like!

Fred did a great job transporting the animals. It took a lot longer than anticipated, more trips, and lots of patience and pulling and pushing. At one point he was down on the ramp lifting Diana's back feet one by one to move her up the ramp! We are so relieved that they are here and happy. I just have to go over once a day now to check on the chickens. We will get busy on the runs and fencing and get them over asap too.

I get organic ACV at the regular grocery store, the Spectrum brand, and on the rare occasion I have a terrible cold, I make a hot tea with the ACV (2 tablespoons in a cup of boiling water) and raw honey, recommended to me by gumpsgirl years ago.

We are euthanizing Kes today. I may not be back here for a bit. This is just too hard, even if it is the right thing to do for her.

I'm so sorry. We had to let our dog go yesterday, too. 9 year old lab mix we got as a rescue dog when she was 11 weeks old. My kids and I cried for hours yesterday. She would not stop killing chickens and it wasn't fair to her to keep her tied when she was used to the run of 2/3 acre. We have tried for months to find her a new home but no one wants an old dog. We finally just took her to the humane society, I HOPE she finds a new home but I know the statistics.

Still reeling a little today, wondering if we really did the RIGHT thing. But we gave her 9 wonderful years of love and play, she was never hungry or unloved. I think that counts for something?
