Stella's Social Club

Whew! Finally finished giving my blog a much needed overhaul. I use a farm theme called Colin and I was starting to see it all over the web and I hate that. Not wanting to spend big bucks on a custom job, we just tweaked it to not be as recognizable. Sadly, the chickens are not mine. I didn't have any pics with a high enough resolution so I chose a couple of stock images of the same chicken and just kind of flipped them around. It is probably more girly than Michael would like with the polka dots but I love it! Here's a quick peek. I think it covers all the bases of farm and food blogging too!

Look's very nice Mary!

I cannot believe this, I'm doomed. Another Barnevelder was on the nest last night! That makes 9 broodies this year.

Somebody please make them STOP!

I have a blue Australorp that has gone Broody three times this season. She is working on the fourth. Usually she sits in the nest for a couple of weeks and quits. She may quit again soon since is has been nearly two weeks. I may see how she does raising chicks when the next batch hatch this weekend.

Who knows?

I have heard that slow roasting takes care of broodiness permanently - and is very tasty

Anyway, nothing is sweeter than a good broody with her new babies. My one and only broody gave it up and started mothering the group of SFH, Orp and Arkansas Blue half-grown chicks she is in with. She calls them to food, shows them how to dust bathe, and treats them as if they were hers - although they are now nearly her size. Silly hen.

I gotta say Mary you did a great job on your Homepage on your blog I know I said this already but it looks great!
