Go Kola! Lukka would be sitting on them by now.

I put in a 15 hour day today unpacking boxes and putting things away. And, THE CAR IS IN THE GARAGE!

I still have lots to do but this was MAJOR!

And 3 loads of wood are gone. Soon to be 4 loads.

I'm having my breakfast, then I'll get my butt in gear and head over.

Unreal....
Kola has finishing molting. She has laid 7 days in a row. Today was day 7, and I could not believe there was yet another egg! SEVEN days in a row!

I'm still amazed at their laying. How long did Kola molt for? I've only had Briet molt, and she was back to laying before 2 months were up.

I have a giant nest somewhere buried in the hay loft. My Easter hatch Icies refuse to lay in the nest boxes - the only colors I get are brown and green. I know where it is, but it will be a couple of months before I feed out enough hay to get to it.

I guess I'll have rescind free range privileges until they learn where they are supposed to lay.

I went through this, I had them laying in the next boxes, then they stopped. Today when I was getting hay down, I see a hen sitting. Once we refill the lofts, I think I'm going to hang netting or something to keep them out. Hopefully at least some will start laying on the down bales so I can at least collect the eggs without climbing up.

The NYD hatch is becoming much to appealing, must resist the temptation!

Had to roll three eggs out from under the coop just now- because one of my kids locked the chickens out of the coop yesterday!!! It only has about 10-12 inch clearance, so I had to do the stick thing very carefully... One was a blue-green egg, suspiciously too small and too green to be from my blue Ameraucana who has been molting for FOREVER, so I'm thinking my black Ameraucana (that I am unsure of purity) has finally started laying!

Disappointed that it is greenish though. :( But I have 3 blue Ameraucanas growing out, of which I think I have two roosters and one hen. I plan to replace my black Ameraucana rooster with one of these blues next spring to breed back to his blue mother, and then I can really get busy with hatching!

ETA: Seriously how long is molt supposed to last? It's been about 7 weeks and she is all feathered out again, I keep thinking any day now!

I counted them before taking them to the cardboard re-cyling center.

It was either count boxes or help Kelly lift logs. I had to go with the boxes.
