A friend from West Virginia once sent me a big jar of honey. She said it was a locus year. I think she meant locust . It was the best honey we had ever eaten. The only honey I had before was those little bears with honey(yeah -right) inside.

Even more shocking is that a good number of the bees in the tree were bumblebees! Then they would fly really low to the ground like they were too full to fly. I had boots on so I wasn't too worried about stepping on one.

Mary, your photo is so sharp, I can see that bee has a fuzzy butt. I wonder if they get pasty butt like chickens. Kelly would know.

I took that pic with my macro lens and really cropped it close and it was still in sharp focus! I love that. I was hoping this one would be good but it wasn't.

I was curious on what type of bee this is, because it's not a honey bee. It's a carpenter bee.


This is a honey bee. Their abdomen is longer and thinner. Someday, I'll get a good picture like this of one of mine.

I do like that you can see the specks of pollen on the bee.
