Stella's Social Club

It wouldn't play for me. Just showed the larvae dropping down and then nothing. I tried several times and it just wouldn't continue. Must have known my low opinion of face book. It was much more attractive than a baby maggot -

I have to stand on my upstairs toilet seat and look out the bathroom window to see fireworks. The park is over a mile away. Very meager show this time. Boo

Moved into the motor home yesterday for a few days while stuff is being done to ready ours for close of escrow. I don't think Kelly will be on here for a few days so she won't see that we aren't going to be neighbors afetr all. :(

On Friday we had to remove our contingencies on the house with the great kitchen. That morning I saw a brand new listing for a single story home in town on an acre of Residential/Agricultural land. I grabbed Emily out of bed at 7:00 a.m. For a quick drive by. The realtor and 20% owner of the home was there with her husband. She let me in to look around. The house is from 1970 and has been a rental, so it needs a lot of work. I liked the floor plan and the land so I called Michael and got him out of bed to drive into town and take a look. He called it a "beater and a fixer" which is actually being generous. But he saw the potential as well.

We weighed the pros and cons of both houses and decided to go for the beater in town. Finding a single story in the Sierra foothills is like finding a needle in a haystack but finding one on a level plot of land is like seeing two unicorns in the same day. So we put in a cancellation on the dream kitchen house and made a full cash full price offer on the beater. That was the only way we were going to get it. The realtor's phone was ringing off the hook with agent's wanting to show it. It was shown four times in the hour we were there! One of the showings was to the realtor's own broker who wanted to buy it for his son.

The house was an income property for the realtor's mother in law. She recently passed away and the house went to the siblings. The long term tenant had moved out and the siblings wanted out of the property to avoid having to do the needed repairs. They priced it to move fast and man-o-man do it ever. My offer was accepted!

We saw it again yesterday with our realtor and she thought we made a good decision. She always felt we were settling with a two story home on a very steep lot that would've serve our needs long term. This little beater should. Now we only have a week to get all of our inspections done and remove our contingencies. Wee know it needs a new roof and has some dry rot in some of the siding due to neglect. The interior hasn't been updated since it was built in 1972 so it needs everything! I am going to try to do it on a modest budget.

In addition to being one story, one a level acre, with a garage, it is less than 1/2 mile from my parents. They are in their 90's so being closer is a bonus. I can be there in 2 minutes instead of 20. I was looking forward to being close to Kelly but this was a deal too good to pass on. She's in town almost every day anyway and this house is close to Starbucks and her gym!

I hope the inspections don't uncover a host of overwhelming problems. I really want this ugly little ranch style beater with fake rock all over the place. All the mature fruit and nut trees make up for the fake rock. Almost.
