Awesome. Never heard of Pinewood Derby Cars, just the little ones the kids ride in. I have heard of Minecraft though and that is the extent of it. Like the camo!

The Pinewood Derby is an annual Cub Scout event. The kids are given a car kit and they and their dad (and I'm sure help from mom a lot of times) cut, sand, and paint the cars, then they race them down a track.

I'll have to post some of the pics from my good camera later. We got a brand new plastic track this year, complete with electronic timer system! It's awesome. It is shared by three troops that attend at our church. The troops come together for the Derby every year.

I was at the old cemetery all morning shooting photos for this week's 52 week challenge. This week we are to do a black and white landscape shot with a lot of contrast. So far, this one is my favorite.

Fantastic shot, but how sad.

I agree, very sad. I am adding a little quote to my post on the challenge. To honor these babies.

This couple died just a few months apart in 1876 but he was 61 and she was only 39. Catherine Elizabeth Andrews and Moses Andrews.

This is on his tombstone.

Couldn't help but notice he got her the small monument then spent the bucks on a big one for himself. Just kidding. Sort of.

I have been drawn to old cemeteries for photos since I was in my early 20's. My girlfriend and I used to spend days driving to find them. I always say a little prayer for the people whose grave I photograph.

My favorite was a tombstone I photographed in 1974. It said "Here Lies Levi Ransom." I thought that was the coolest name ever. I still have the photograph. The thombstone was laying down, broken in half and had weeds growing in the crack. I entered the photo in the college photo contest and won.

I was wondering the same thing on the different sizes of the monuments. Strange. In grade school, we did rubbings at the old cemetary. I did one of 2 hearts intertwined - it's down the side of the hill towards Nevada Street.

I saw that one. Unfortunately, it didn't have the light on the right side for a good photograph at the time of day I was there.
