HI everybody! No way can I catch up more than the last few pages. It's been a SUPER busy summer. My husband has started his own business and I've been carrying on farm stuff mostly on my own but sometimes with him underfoot. And helping him get things started too.
Getting almost a gallon of milk per day off our milk goats, so today I tried my hand at making ricotta cheese, easy and yummy! Kids start back to school next week, the summer has flown by. Dropbox is full so I can't add photos like I usually do, and I don't have time to sort through and cut down the pictures so more can upload! There are NOT enough hours in the day. Lost a bunch of birds when the heat hit early in June, we were gone all day for Lonny's grandmother's funeral and I came home to over a dozen dead hens and 1 rooster. Heartbreaking. It was the breaking point to sell off my Orloffs though. I lost 5 of 7 hens that week. Ah well. I will have a different breed in that pen next year! Right now I've got my young East Frisian Gulls in there. Flightier than my Leghorns, they are crazy birds and need a TOTALLY enclosed and netted space. Not like my big English orps that couldn't get off the ground if they wanted to!
Sorry to hear about the shop Mary. You do such beautiful work I was hoping things would work out better for you.
Hopefully as the weather cools down I'll have time to catch up more!
We'll be OK Rinda. Big time flub picking the location, but we aren't giving up. Hope your husband's business works out. It is hard to think about failing but you have to risk it for the chance to succeed.
And helping him get things started too.
