Speaking of which...............any of you southerners have a source for real sorghum? DH loves it and you can't find it out here.

Deb

Azure Standard has it:

I was kind of looking for a testimonial for a particular brand. I've seen it available online, by the time you add the shipping (it's heavy), it starts getting spendy. If it turns out to be the thin syrupy version, it will be like every one I've tried buying locally. He likes the really strong, thick stuff!

Me?...................

................give me some kind of home canned fruit syrup. I think my favorite is apple or orange spice, he likes the nasty stuff!
For a drop from Azure, I do not pay shipping. I do have to order $50.00 of stuff but that is not a problem for me. There is a drop in Elk Grove. There may be some closer to you.

Our grocery story carries foreign stuff and has a good sized tin of something called "Spotted Dick," I kid you not. Apparently it's some kind of pudding but I can't bring myself to buy any, besides I think it's about $ 4.99.

Spotted dick is a steamed suet cake with dried fruit (usually plums or currants). Think something like an extremely moist quick bread. Pudding is a generic term in the UK, just means dessert. Like, "What's for pudding tonight?"

Goodnight Dar, sleep tight - whatever that means.

Ooooh, I know that one too...................beds were made from a crosshatch of ropes tied to the bed frame. Sleeping tight means, the ropes were nice and tight and didn't sag.

Of course the whole poem was......................."Nighty, nite, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite".................

My first DH was from a southern family, he always added....................."And if they do, hit em with your shoe and beat them til they're black and blue". I never heard that version before, LOL

Deb, If I ever appear on "Millionaire," and need to phone a friend - it'll be you. We'll work out the payoff percentages later

I can't tell you how many of my friends tried to convince me to try out for the show..............or Jeopardy. I kill at Trivial Pursuit. I've always said I was a font of useless information, LOL Got the "sleep tight" during a tour of the Anne Hathaway house in England..................along with "upper crust", "threshhold" and a few others. Quirky stuff just seems to stick in my mind.

I'm not sure there is anything poetic about any one of those versions about bugs sucking your blood while you sleep...............ick
