Stella's Social Club

Kathy, glad everything is better. I am so sorry your family is going through this. I hope you take advantage of the extra help. You are sort of busy even on a normal day already. Please take care of yourselves.

Edited to ask: What is that gorgeous vine in the picture?

Edited again to say: I just noticed your smart-alecky remark about one of my pullets.

Would a box of fine quality quilting fabric comfort and inspire you for the time when you and yours are on the other side of this???
I have so much...all top quality designer...all styles etc. I would gladly mail you a box...you'd at least have time to 'fondle' the fabric and dream...I have so much fabric that it would take 3 lifetimes to use it...would love to share

Kathy - be sure to take whatever help you can get. You are no help to Brittany if you run yourself down. We have been going through similar with FIL - he had a stroke last year at 62 years old. A couple weeks ago he had 3 seizures. They finally found the cause - pulmonary fibrillation. It is what caused the stroke and the stroke made him high risk for seizures. He lost vision in the stroke, and lost more with the seizures. Last week he was in the hospital again for back pain - the meds they gave him caused him to get kidney stones. So it's been a roller coaster for sure.

You felt it too? Wow, we are 2 hours apart. It was centered in Greenville.

we even felt it and one aftershock here in placerville. Maybe because we are on a mountain with granite. shook the pull cords on the ceiling fans shook after a quick shake.

I didn't feel it, but I was up checking on the yard, because my ducks raised a real ruckus. They were quacking like crazy, so I thought there was something in the yard. Nothing I could see. I went back inside and discovered the news had broken into regular programming to speculate on the earthquake felt in Sacramento. I always keep the USGS earthquake site "up" on its own "window" so I learned about it as soon as KCRA did.

Then I thought, "Huh. Them ducks knew!"

I never felt anything either Linda and no response from any of the animals. I grew up in San Jose, so I am normally attuned to earthquakes (I love them). I was in So. CA for the Landers quake, it was GREAT! I think they are exciting.

Tornadoes, Earthquakes, car accidents.

We are quite the lot.

DS #4 Graduated from HS last night.

DW with the youngest 3 and a friend are on their way to Utah at present.

So DS#4 and I will be batching it for a long 4 day weekend.

We've decided we need to move. I told the real estate agent, that the ability to keep chickens would be a plus.
I tried to get DW to move 10 years ago, but after a meeting with the school board last Tuesday she decided her children would no longer attend schools in this district.

SO, she has our 10 year old already signed up in an Elementary school close the the High School where our 4 oldest graduated and our 12 year old signed up to go to a junior high next to that High School.

We looked at one home last night before graduation. LOCATION: perfect. Mountain views: Beyond spectacular, Backyard and kitchen: perfect. The rest of the house was horrible. But, the most I could have would be 3 or 4 hens there. Just too small.

The agent said there is a home that will be going on the market next week where the back yard is next to the mountain preserve. HUGE plus as I love to hike.... especially if I can't keep chickens.

I think I'm going to sleep alot and go see the Star Trek movie... and take a trip to Mesa Saturday morning... that an field emergency calls as my Brother and his family are on their way to Liberal, KS and I'm taking emergency calls for TWO other doctors besides my brother and myself.... but....

Glad we don't have tornadoes or earthquakes here in AZ... and the temps for the last week in May will be BELOW NORMAL... that's always a plus.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend my friends... time to go out and play with my chickens.

Dar, your business is none of my business, but I have been hoping you would be able to move ever since The Bad Thing happened to you there with your flock and the city.

I hope you and your family find the perfect place!

Sad thing is, it's "slim pickin's" out there at present... Wish we would have taken advantage two years ago... at the low point in the market.
