I have a strange question to ask....

I have a friend whose birthday is coming up, I found out that she just busted out her incubator..

Last time I was down there I asked her about the breeds she wants…. She kept talking about the Barnevelder. I know NOTHING about that breed and am having a tough time searching to find hatching eggs.

First off I found it helped to spell it correctly.

Anyone have any advice for me….

Ummm, I am in your group, LOL........I have IB also. Anyway, I have tons of golden campines. I collect a dozen eggs per day, so I can always do them, eggs or chicks. Saturday I had a judge say mine were the best he'd seen in years.

My silver campines are just starting to lay, so it will be awhile for them. They have been very slow starters. Actually, I need to break them out into a breeding pen. Currently there is a spare birchen IB roo (that I hatched from an egg from Jim) running with them!

I guess what I meant my "group" is the Iowa Blue Chicken Club Standard Committee.

In any case, let me know when your silvers get going and you have some eggs available. We have to get rid of the gold

Trisha - tls_ranch. She has nice barnevelder stock. I have both pure barnevelders and blue barnevelders from her. Andy - mtnvieworchards also has some really nice barnevelders. Any questions, just PM me. I'd offer to send you some, but I lost both cockerels I was growing out for breeding to replace my older rooster. So I'm out until fall with them.

Here you go Mary and Emily.

I'm sure that Jason will have much better snow pictures!

OMG, the rain just turned to big clumpy snowflakes. And it rarely snows this low (1400 ft), at least it almost never sticks!

There's a 12x15 ft room that opens off the living room with double doors, it opens out onto the back deck with french doors, built in desk, etc. I have my three incubators in there and two tubs of chicks that brood inside for a week or so before they get kicked to a brooder in the garage. So I guess I could call it the chicken room (although there are two stinking ducklings in there at the moment, Aflack & Duck Two, LOL).
Ok here you go. Mary, Kelly the 2" netting does not like the heavy snow. I will have to tighten it this weekend. We ended up with 12".
my wife got side swiped and I got to use my landscape rake and snow shovel and clear our LONG driveway.

Here you go. My Crele stayed in the coop. The empordanesa and others Braved it.
