am trying to catch up on three months' absence but wanted to throw in some shots of one of my Icelandic mix boys, Ragnar Lothbrok. Scrappy fella, SO like his namesake.

Hey, Linda, Ladyhawk is with me and just decided which male chicks to take back with her and keep and had just named this guy Ragnar. She asked me to post a picture of her Ragnar.

The white pullet is his sister, Lagitha, also returning to Ky with LH.

I am Lagitha in my own mind.

Yes, I realize I am delusional for more reasons than I can list quickly... But how COOL to HAVE a Lagitha for Ragnar in a flock! Mine is now ensconced in the "bachelor" coop & pen, but when he was in general population, he pillaged plenty of pullets. His comb is scabby from this or that fracas; he was/is not THE cock in charge, yet his rank is quite high amongst the roos. And his plumage is gorgeous, with a flare of true purple in his wing feathers. He will eat from my hand, always checking to make eye contact with me before he takes another nibble of treat. He's absolutely one of those <I>thinking</I> roosters.

Ladyhawk wins those three points with a high-five bonus!

My website is down for "maintenance" and I am freaking out. I went over my storage limit yesterday and the hosting company warned me that if some of the media files weren't moved off the site, they may shut it down. So Michael started uploading them to "the cloud" via Amazon. The upload has been going on all night and still is not done.

I started my blog in 2008 and there are lots of media files. I am a nervous wreck that there will be a glitch and it will be all lost without a back-up. This has happened to me before with all my pictures on the computer, so I am mentally preparing myself for the worst case scenario.

External hard drives are cheap and hold a lot of data. It is a good idea to back up at least two ways.

The site is huge. The back-ups are done by the web hosting company on their end as part of the service I pay dearly for. But, the uploads are done and the site is back up except one scary thing left to do and that is to delete the caged files. We are waiting to get the go-ahead on that from the hosting company.

You are why they invented the cloud. I would also pay for a picasa account to double back up all your pics. I thing tier 1 that is all you would need is cheap.

Yes ron! We moved to this area because the it company marios first job hired didnt check the backups were backing up. They lost 9 months of billing. He was working 14 hrs days for months fixing that. Now he backs up everything weekly. One section of whatever it is per day I think. There is some reason it is not daily but that is over my pay grade and has something to do with custom software and many swear words.

The web hosting company backs up my site nightly, so supposedly the most I would lose it whatever I did during the day if there is a crash. And the back-ups they do, get backed up somewhere else as well. My computer backs up to a 3T external hard drive nightly. I think we're covered but you just never know.
