I have been freezing since yesterday and I thought our heat pump was out again. We just had it installed this year. Michael went down to check it and found this! Apparently the "defrost" function is not working. Michael is going to try to melt the ice with water and reboot before calling the installer. It's always something. :/

Costco sells these heat dish heaters that are great, unless you need to heat an entire house

Heat pump is working again! Thanks goodness. Our installer said during a hard freeze like we had last night when the humidity is just right that can happen. She'll come out after her vacation if we are still having problems. My cheeks feels absolutely rosey after two days of being wrapped in a robe and blankets.

OMG, JUST WHEN YOU NEED THE HEAT IT FREEZES OVER? And that's ok?

Anyone know what this is? It was just in my yard. Is tall with a big top knot. It flew away before I could get a good shot.



Oops asked too soon. I answered my own question. I think it's a Steller Jay.

And yep, Stellar Jay, sometimes called Mountain Jay as well. They are more common in the mountains.

We have two new heat pumps. One heats/cools the upstairs and the other the downstairs. I have portable heaters to use when the heat pump goes out which has been many times since we moved here. I thought we would be in the clear with two new units but noooooo.

Out here we get Blue Jays, beautiful, smart as a whip, noisy and very aggressive- egg eaters, nest robbers. Numbers are way down due to Nile virus but, when you have one sounds like a lot.
