Still needing advice. Please read!

Goose, what part of the world/country are you in? Here in FL we are hot and humid.

I am in Oklahoma, (that little egg has been in our tornado shelter with us 4 times since I rescued him).. couldn't let him get blown away by a tornado! :)

update: I hear a little ticking noise in the incubator? Is that inside the egg? or it wobbling?

X2 with Celtic.

If I may add... place egg horizontally with air cell slanted side up. Have fat end of egg facing front of bator as you will be watching that end of the egg for an external pip, if in proper position.

Might be the baby pecking the shell. Raise your humidity now and then sit back and wait. Keep updating and post pictures from through the bator window.
Its wobbling pretty good right now. I added water and closed both vent holes. Then do I need to put something underneath him so when he comes out he doesn't get stuck on the wire bottom somehow? Like a little handtowel or something? And if and when should I consider possibly having to put a little tiny hole in the shell? Thanks!

goose, fantastic news it is rocking!!

You can use either rubber kitchen drawers liner, a hand towel, or cheesecloth over wire bottom. If you are using a styro bator, merely filling reservoirs and closing holes will not get humidity high enough. Add a couple of small dishes of water. Place them directly under vent holes. That way you can add more water through holes using aquarium air pump tubing without opening bator. You want the inside of that bator steamy and moist. Don't forget to position egg fat end facing you with dipped air cell side up.

I wet a paper towel and put it in there. Is that ok? My humidity shot up to 70% real quick so I opened the holes. Should I close them? Is it gonna get too much humitidy if I do that? Im scared I will go to bed and wake up and the humidity will by really high.

I would rather have my humidity too high than too low. Depending on how hot the water was when you soaked paper towel, it will cause humidity to rise quick, but then fall back down over a few hours.

Goose do as told right now. A wet paper towel will dry out. Get a plastic storage dish fill with hot water place in the back on the bator under the rear vent hole.

70% is the minimum you want when hatching.

When you add the water dish place what ever you are going to use under the egg, close the bator up and don't open it again.

Ok. I will. I don't see it wobbling this morning. But I don't see hole either in the egg? I did try to add a bowl but the humidity was going up real high. I will add one again now. I don't candle it to see if its ok? (I won't, Im just asking). THinking I might need to put a hole? (Only when you tell me to)
