Stolen Horse--Man is BACK in jail!

I agree! It's so easy to teach an animal of any kind bad habit, but another thing entirely to train them back out of it. While you will always love your horse the same, you should get penance for any thing they have done that makes your previous training a lost cause.

I wouldn't be too worried about the training aspect. Max sounds like a good old steady and whatever bad habits he may have picked up could be trained out with his same owner. You'd be surprised when horses that have "always ducked and ran back to the barn" or "bucked when asked to canter" don;t do the behaviors with a different rider.

I know, I've seen my horse who I can't get below a fast trot do a perfect, back-rounded western jog. Under a different, better rider of course.

I will tell you this... I have heard so many nightmare stories about leases... and horses that disappear... i will never lease a horse. I know it sounds awful but I would rather put one of my own peacefully in the ground than risk it ending up in some places i have seen...

I hope Max comes home soon. Honestly, the thief has some huge cajones.... or is either fantastically stupid... to not have returned him by now. Honestly. He's up against a wall.

Perhaps the uncle will soon see the handwriting on the wall and give this whole thing up as a lost cause. It's just costing him money to continue to fight to keep the horse. He had admitted that it is the same horse that his nephew leased, so trying to bring in a ringer at this point shows him up to be the horse thief he looks to be.

I can't believe he continues to hang on to the horse and deny the facts of Max's true ownership. I don't really see how he thinks he can get away with it. I just hope there are no more inside tracks and family affairs or connections here. The judge has had time to confirm the location, identity, and condition of the horse. What's holding things up? She should have taken care of this last week, knowing she would be working in another county this week.

I am frustrated for you, Ropo. You have been incredibly patient and gracious with this bunch of yahoos. Hang in there. I don't see how it can go on much longer.

Actually ... Once RoPo gets Max back I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to sue her for $$ to pay for the upkeep of Max for the time he had him. People like this seem to enjoy being a pain in the rear and making others as miserable as they are.

He's also had the use of the horse for a year at no charge. If anything, Ropo should sue HIM for loss of use of her horse for the time he has refused to return it. Really, if I steal your car and keep it for a year, and at the end of a year the court orders me to return it, do I get to sue you for the gas and oil I have put into it? The license fees and other maintenance? That makes NO sense, but then the way most of this case has been handled makes no sense.

Didn't say it made sense to anyone, but seems to be how this person's mind works. If he does sue, I would counter with anything I could think of including the value of time it will take to retrain Max.

Ever think about suing the State or whoever you can for the injustice of loosing all this time with your horse because the wheels are turning so slowly? Just a thought...or is it just the criminals that get FAIR AND SPEEDY trials?
