Store bought eggs to hatch?

!nb.PNG

The Torres family eggs were the black ones. (The gray and white are from N40) I had 5 black Torres hatch- but I had chicks hatch from other local farms one week earlier. I have 20 chicks total. The Black ones are out of very dark large eggs, Cuckoo maran, or BCM

Hatching these mystery chicks are fun, but I also like buying the breed I want, (LO, and leghorn.)

No they were not. Though I have heard some store sell eggs marked fertile. This is an experiment so who knows how it'll turn out. I am candling on day 7, which will be April 28
I wish I could find fertile "eating eggs" here. I would steal them from the fridge and give them to my endless supply of broodies! It's quite hard to find hatching eggs here, so that would make it simpler.

Bonker- In my area all the store eggs are not fertile- I have gone with Health food store eggs, and with those only ones listed as local. And check dates. most have been washed and fridged, so that is a draw back.
Glover street market has rainbow fertile eggs ( Patterson? from Bryan road in winthrop.)
Then there is Texas Creek eggs from Carlton, and Torres I think out of Pateros.

There are brands in the grocery stores that are not fertile, so don't waste your time, Naturally nested, Wilcox, there is another brand that looks and claims natrural but it is just albertson brand under some organic label.
This is an experiment, I would be surprised if ANY develop. I bought the freshest as possible and specifically bought pasture raised. I am familiar with Glover Street Market. Yes, I could have bought local eggs and almost get a guarantee that they are fertile but that is not the point. It was to buy from a "larger" egg production company and to see what happens.

We will see if they develop and hatch first. Depending on the number that hatch and gender will determine what I'll do. I might give some hens to one of my family members but all roosters are going to be for food for my family.
I tried this once and failed. But at the beginning of the year, I came across store eggs that all had the bulls eye in them so I might try again.
