Making chili. Same reason.

and yes, so far, the plants are doing great, apart from the bed the chickens tore up - but I was mostly expecting that. The impromptu greenhouses are helping quite a lot to protect the new growth form our several frosts and two freezes (another tonight) so far.

Chilli sounds yummy too!
Glad the plants are coming along well.

We have frosts coming several days this week and low 20s Thursday. I will have to watch that. Everything is fairly mature so :fl
brrrrrr cold! I'm trying to protect a banana and two passion fruits. and two something else I've already forgotten, some variety of fig I think.

Cold here too. Ovens been on for an hour and my heat just came on.
DH was a sweetie this morning. Did my chicken chores and went to the garden and picked this so I could make the slaw. Think I'll make green bean casserole. I have lots of green beans in the freezer.

These were started inside in early August. Planted in the garden mid Sept.
I will start more around Feb for spring.

Depending on the weather and variety, yours will probably be Feb or so?
Stuff grows very slowly from Nov till days get longer. I cheat and start them inside. ☺️

I also choose varieties with shorter days to harvest for fall/winter. This helps a lot with short days.

Garden is just a six-letter word right now. Sigh.

It has been warmer and drier than average here, and the forecast is for the same the rest of the year.

Not warm enough to do much of anything outside, too warm for snow. (The latter is leading to a grumpy hubby.)

We're supposed to get some "partly sunny days" this week. :fl If they're right, I think I'll go sit in the green house and think about planting pots of spinach.

Very Happy Holidays to all!

Particularly my animals, none of which are going to freezer camp today.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays
