Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

No fox yet. Will be rehoming two more possums this evening. Fortunately, there is a large wilderness area nearby, little used, with no homes within about 2 miles of its center that has conditions similar to my property (except the wma has more water - we are on higher ground) that I can relocate them to.

Far enough away that they can't find their way back? I've read 10 miles is the minimum distance. :idunno

Neighbor got 2 raccoons last night in the tree by their garden. I got a text at 10:38 to let us know that's why there were gunshots nearby.

I'm STILL having issues with squirrels. It has to be squirrels. What else can eat off the top of a sunflower plant 2 feet off the ground? I'll replant them in the center of the garden, not by the fence.

I can also state that the reflective plastic tape that is supposed to keep birds away... doesn't work. I have some in and around my cherry tree. A robin is trying to build a nest in the tree.

No, I don't think its 10 mi as the crow flies - but the range of an oppossum is much less than 5 mi in any direction from its den, so I'm thinking I'll be fine. More likely to have new possums move in fromnearby once these are all trapped and relocated than to have the relocated make their way back.

Now the fox? That's going to be a drive.

Good to know.

There was a Detroit Tiger baseball player (Prince Fielder) who looked like a possum when he ran down the line to first base.

When we see a possum running down the road, we say, "Run, Prince, run!"

Why do the run down the road? Or across? Safety is to the side, critters, the nearest side.

Good thing its not hot out.
