Chapter 8

We all woke up this morning like regular. A big crow, then all the hens making sleepy comments about how early it was and that Marbles should go hush up. But then they realized that the food dish would be full of nice, grainy food and got up. The hens were very dilligent when it came time to look for bugs. Daddy said he saw no hawk... but also to be on the lookout for it. I had visited Mommy's grave, and scratched a nice heart. I ate yummy tomatos the night before, and was CRAVING them! Willow didn't even know what they were! Boy, was she missing out! Sandy, Lacey,Bell'e, Jewels, Button and I were a search party for juicy red tomatos! All of a sudden a human came out, and said,
"Hey chickies! I've got some tomatos for you!"
OH YES! Tomatos! I thought.
We had gobbled up many precious treats, playing tug-of-war with the red things too. I had gotten at least 3 whole ones! Not to mention lots of tiny seeds!
A lot of time had gone by since the treat, but we had been scratching in the hay. It was so fun! Fern even said she saw a tiny snake! But I'm not sure if I believe that. I went ot my Daddy and hugged him for a long time, then tried annoying him by going under his wings! He laughed, and I cought the new kids eye. His name was Angelo, and he was SO handsome! White with green legs... and rusty markings! I couldn't believe he was staring at me!

I tried making my self look nice, but it's hard when you have feathers for feet and you can't stop stepping in mud. I walked over to him, flapping my wings.
"Hey Angelo! Uh- wait.. uh I'm sophie!" Ugh... I had just made a fool of myself infront of the coolest rooster ever! Well, besides Daddy of course.
"Hey uhh Sophie!" He laughed, and I laughed too.
"No... just Sophie" I smiled. We walked to the coop together, and he offered me to sit by him, and I agreed. I told my friends I was in paradice. We feel alseep with my head in his wings.
