Well, if your rooster is like a rooster I once had, he might have carried the water balloon egg around as a hen treat and dropped it outside. I had a Black Copper Marans rooster who thought he was half Labrador Retriever. He was always carrying things to impress the hens with.

It appears I have missed a lot of posts! Sorry I am new here and mostly replying from my phone, but thank you all for your comments! I spelled that himervadite the way he sent it to me ... Guessing he didn't spell check either....I even copy pasted into google and it came up with the definition.... Anyhoo .... It came up with the definition for hermaphrodite, not 'himervadite'

This tops high on my list of strangest things I've ever seen... I came upon what I thought was a deflated water balloon on my back deck...and no idea where it came from... Nope, it has a yoke inside! My hens are all in the coop! The only chicken loose is the rooster! Is Zorro half Zoey?

Weirder things have happened, science is so strange and so cool. This is such odd timing, friends cousin had an injured rooster in the first aid coop and saw something similar, I didn't see pictures but it was described as an egg with no shell, and looking like it had an ambulical cord.....

Turns out their Rooster is a little more Harriet than Harry. Her cousin checked the roosters pelvic bone to confirm, its been a one off though.

Apparently the idea of a rooster laying an egg stirs a lot of deep emotions in people... who knew

There are so many rabidly pedantic replies you’d think we were discussing which religion chickens should be raised as

Anyway you can put that himervadite/herervadite bird in a cage if you want, but from my research on www.backyardaliens.com, the alien chickens generally only lay one egg, so it’s probably a one and done situation.
