I had thought about a warm bath. Epsom salts maybe?Strange. Maybe give her a warm bath to clean off the area. If she is acting normal, it may be nothing, but keep an eye on her.
She is less than 2 weeks. She is eating ok, but I haven’t witnessed her pooping yet. But I haven’t been fussing with her too much to witness it yet. I’ll spend some time tonight. The breeder is going to compare the bottom of her other chick. I just got her yesterday. So the local breeder said I could switch her out if I’m concerned. I’m worried about the possibility of a tumor or something. How old is she? The lower belly does look enlarged. There may have been some feather picking by other chickens or by herself. Is she having normal poops and eating okay?
I had thought of mushy chick disease. It certainly doesn’t seem normal to me. For sure. I’ll most likely go tomorrow and get a different chick. I noticed something strange when she handed it to me, but didn’t think anything of it till I got home. Could have been because of being distracted by toddlers! Haha. Thank you all for your insight!I would be worried about mushy chick disease, a hernia, or fluid in the belly. I would show it to the breeder, and consider getting another chick. I have raised a couple of silkies, but am far from being an expert on silkies.
