stuck for a kennel run roof

Never tried those....but my run is oddly shaped so i know thats not much of an option. Do u have harsh winds? Would worry it would blow off. I know its near impossible to keep tarps down around here

I just use nylon netting on my dog kennel pens all year around. We gets alot of snow here in Indiana and it just goes right thru the netting.

For shade in summer I put up shade cloth right over the netting and use zip ties to hold it down. In fall I remove the shade cloth..

I bought mine off e-bay and got the heavyweight 2 inch individually knotted one. Had up for 3 years now and it is just like new. Looks neater and much easier to maintain....

Thank you Gail for posting all that. I have seen photos of your pen before and wanted to do something similar with mine (which is only 4 feet tall, and I am 5ft2 so if I did that I could stand up in the middle) and my husband had an idea of how to do it, but the picture and supply list will make it easy. I was wondering how much longer than the pen width is the PVC pipe?

This run was 7 feet wide so we cut the PVC pipe to 7 1/2 feet (it comes in 10 foot sections).

We tried 8 feet but it made the "loop" too high to work on; however, the kennel we used was already 6 feet tall.

Since yours is 4 feet tall, perhaps you might want to experiment with a piece of PVC pipe that is 1 foot longer than the width of your coop. You can always trim it back if it's too "loopy".

Did what I post make sense?

Gail

Makes perfect sense!

I covered part of the run with plastic panels from Lowes or Home Depot, can't remember which; they come in white, tan and clear. Sorry you can't see them that clearly due to the snow. The rest of the run is covered in heavy weight poultry netting, watched a hawk bounce off just a few weeks ago.

I took Georgiagail's great idea of the Lowe's clamps and used some PVC pipes I had around from an earlier project....not very many pipes, and not long enough to make a good hoop - so I made a peak with one pair. Too cheap to buy more. We will see if this lasts through the first rainstorm!
