Sudden ducking death

i have had sick birds before but they live at least 2 more days
and i think the reason was because they were sick or they ate something because the pen is near some pine trees and such so stuff might have gotten blown into the pen thou the fence but still will except that they were cold but i think the reason they were cold was because the girls legs shut down that is why i say sickness they had food and water that was deep enough and met their need

Beak problems - Spotting or discoloured patches on a duck's beak may be indicative of a fungal or bacterial infection.

A sudden change in the weather can be enough to cause pneumonia in ducks, and ducklings can get colds from exposure to water or air that is not warm enough.

Eyes - Your ducks need to be able to immerse their whole head in water regularly, in order to clean and moisturise their eyes. Make sure clean water is available at all times. If your duck pond or dabbling area is particularly shallow, consider providing a deeper bucket of water for them to use for ducking and grooming.

Leg injuries - Exposed wire flooring in your duck house is one of the worst culprits for damaging ducks feet. Make sure any wire flooring is covered up. Injuries can also occur to ducks when entering and exiting the water, so make sure a ramp is provided if necessary.

Poisons - Ducks can ingest poisons such as lead fishing weights, pesticides and chemicals. They are very sensitive to zinc, copper and lead.

Hello...Once something dies the blood stops flowing so things do turn that colour...

Sounds like it may have been DVE

Duck viral enteritis (DVE) is a herpes virus infection and affects birds above two weeks of age. It is often associated with access to swimming water and high morbidity and mortality can occur. Transmission is mainly by infected (wild) birds. Recovered birds may carry the virus for years. Sudden deaths, a drop in egg production, photophobia, thirst, severe diarrhoea, dehydration and ataxia are clinical symptoms. Post-mortem lesions include severe enteritis, crusty plaques from the oesophagus to the bursa, and haemorrhage in body cavities and various organs. No treatment is available, but preventative vaccines are used in various countries
