Sudden ducking death

They do not look like they have any feathers yet, just down, which isn't water proof. When soaked during a rain it can cause hypothermia, which will lead to death. Ducklings without a mom duck that aren't fully feathered shouldn't be out in the rain. Sorry you lost them.
thx but in the hen house they had a heat lamp and they were under a roof no water got to them

It is confusing the way your first post is written it sounds as if they had escaped and were out in the rain.

) they were running around and having fun,but when I came home from school At 4:00 or was raining so I went inside at 8:40 I went outside to put my ducks that had escaped in the pen

Plus it had only been raining for about 10 minutes that is why I know that they weren’t cold

And the biggest one died first

What kind of feed were they given. It looks and sounds like frostbite. I know it's hard to understand how just a few mins of rain could cause that but it is possible. I lost two of my own that way when I first started. They could also have suffered shock if out in chilly rain and then put immediately under heat as hot as a lamp. Those lamps put out some major wattage.

Many people have told me this but I do not think that is the case because when I picked up the ducking she was burning up like she was sick and I didn’t put her under the heat lamp immediately for that reason I believe that they somehow got sick
Plus the color didn’t happen until after death
