Suddenly a pet?

I don't know who laid that big light colored one. These are the 10 eggs we brought in. Also a picture of the littlest egg next to the biggest egg. I'm way too excited about not having to buy eggs anymore.

Lol I think all the attention was them trying to tell you, "hey lady with the food, my eggs are in a hole."

Lol that's awesome, good thing or that hole might have had 100 eggs in it by summers end ;)

She hasn't pecked me yet. If I come outside without food the buff orpingtons will do what I like to call a "run by." Lol. They powerwalk past me and try to peck my flip flops. Sometimes they get a toe. I think it's the design on my flip flops they're mostly after. The red stars are the most brave. We have two, the one that has decided I make an excellent perch and the other one just always stays around my feet waiting for treats. It's hard to give the pig treats because they will take it right out of my hand or the pigs mouth and run away with it. The gold lace wyandottes and the rhode island red are the ones that don't get close and complain the most if we ever have to touch them.

I didn't get mine as pets either lol.... But I have honestly never enjoyed personalities like the chickens. They really are a hoot :D

I know. Lol. I kept counting up the weeks and wondering why they weren't laying yet. Hahaha. If I hadn't seen that hen coming out of that hole, I probably never would have looked in there. I'm totally surprised the pig wasn't going in the hole and eating the eggs.

My granny always said.... If it sinks to the bottom you got em if it floats to the top you need to stop. Never had it fail me yet. I think they are ok and washing them then into the fridge is a good idea since they have been wet.

My daughter had to have some eggs for dinner. I had to take a picture. Her scrambled eggs are bright yellow. She has claimed them delicious. Those yolks came out of the tiniest eggs. So they were mostly yolk.

I bet they're delicious, especially after the work it took to get them lol ;)

I wonder if, since you found their stash, will they still harass you lol... You're either their hero or a big mean hole filling egg theif ha-ha :D

They're harassing me more than ever. We *thought* we had the hold filled in so they couldn't get back in. As we collapsed the main part and the entrance. Except there was a small ledge at the side that was still hollow. It was lightning and thundering and we thought it would rain and nature would finish the job. It didn't rain. We apparently have burrowing chickens. They made an entrance and got back in there. I caught two of them coming out of there again this morning. They or the pig also drug all the hay out of the nest boxes and moved the egg out from under the sun shade. I totally thought we had this. I've been outsmarted by chickens. It's time to build the coop with a door on it.

Wow. Lol just, wow! You should write a book ha-ha :D ... Do you live in Colorado, because I'm pretty sure we could be neighbors; I was waiting on the rain last night too, to knock my 2 Anconas out of the tree they have decided they like to roost in... No rain. ;) I sure hope I don't have to climb a tree for eggs, or I will be hanging my head in defeat too ha-ha..

Outsmarted by the chickens. Story of my life :D
