Suggestions wanted!! Unwanted starlings and sparrows

No unwanteds last nite when I fed and watered,so I've successfully plugged the entry places they were using.

Well the fight continues here.Last evening there was another 20 birds inside. Seems they are so desperate for a free meal,the sparrows and starlings are now picking-scratching the frozen dirt around the outside walls at the splashboard level. They make an opening just large enough to squeeze thru.I took another 3' long scab piece of 2x4 and laid it along the ground,where their new entry point was made.Next summer I think I'll get several bags of Sakrete and put along these splashboards. They are persistant in getting free water and feed when it's frozen and so cold outside.

I think that's your problem. When the weather gets bad enough there, they seek any refuge and food and water. They will find or make any entrance they can get through. You just have to keep plugging holes.

We have wren and finch colonies here. I have just learned to live with them. They don't make to much of a mess, but they don't sty in here like they will there.
