Sultans!

I just got two Sulans! As you can see.

And I loooooooooove them! They're a little bit over 2 months old.

They have an amazing temperment and aren't crazy hyper like my other chickens.

They're adorable! Chicken selfie!:) I have a hen named Cleopatra, she's a wonderful little hen, and I love her like she's my child:p.
Don't trim the beak, its really sensitive. I have a silkie with cross beak she eats a little less, bu other than that she's learned how to get along just fine with her deformity. Also the average laying start time is about 24 weeks.

Hope that helped out!

I have heard people who literally get their chickens beaks cut off to the nub:(. If your chickens fight and kill each other, don't keep them!
Awww! I love silkies!:) I have a tiny one, and she is just a little black fluff ball.<3 Her name's Pat (Patricia)

Who doesn't take chicken selfies?

They're just so photogenic! I've been having trouble naming those two. Cleopatra is cute though. An extravagent bird deserves a fabulous name!

Also, I do a lot of writing about factory farms and such. It's so terrible how they treat their birds. :( They debeak them so, I very strongly advise against beak cutting and such.

Silkies are great! Mine is very cuddly. I never thought that a chicken would want to be a "lap bird."

I hope my Sultans are as social as my silkie is!

Also sorry about this weirdness ^ I'm still not used to the forum structure

I take them...Then crop my face out of themXD. I never thought I'd have a chicken that looks at the camera!
Agreed!:) And she's bossy, like a queen;).

It's sad, I can't imagine who'd get that job, no matter how much they needed the money.

Mine isn't, she's shy. But once you catch her she likes it when you massage her neck.
I bet they will be!:)

Is it ok/safe to trim my Sultans head feathers? Poor things have a hard time seeing. They will be 14 wks old tomorrow :) I noticed that some of their head feathers look like they have a thicker look, like maybe a new feather?? I'm scared that it might hurt them or bleed?

It'll be fine, it doesn't hurt them. I've cut a huge fluffy feather off of my sultan once, and she was fine.

Oh good! Do you know What the different, thicker looking feathers are? They are just kind of sparatic in their head feathers. I just want to make sure that it doesn't have a blood supply or would hurt them

No, I don't. It should be fine if you don't cut to the very end of the feather.:)

Any idea on Gender here? This chick is almost 7 weeks old (6 weeks in the pics) so it may still be too early to tell, but we're taking two others to a friend who are for sure roosters and I'm going to hold onto this one until I'm sure. The suspense is killing me!
