Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

I laid my faithful friend Jada to sleep today at the age of 16. She was such a good dog, originally my sons who has since passed away. I just couldn't stand to see her suffer anymore. She just closed her eyes and went to sleep.

Oh Betty! She was such a beauty!!! I remember when I had to put my old girl down a year and a half ago and you told me about Jada then and posted a pic. You were so supportive then. I know she had a good long life and went peacefully but I also know how much you will miss her. Especially since she was your son's dog.

Sunny~ My DD loves the yarn you chose for this swap. She saw it for the first time last night when I finally had time to pull it out to try to caught up to our growing list. She was Ooooo-ing & Awww-ing over it so I threw her some of my started mess ups.

The mess ups will not go to waste, b/c she will create something out of them. Just a few days ago she and a friend were sewing fabric head bands and her friend sewed one of my mess up crocheted beginnings from other swaps to jazz up her head band. So then she would whisper , Mess up....Mess up!!!!

She thanked me for her pretties before she went to bed.

I have 8 swaps complete now.

Need to get my fingers flying to catch up to the list.

Does any one else have pics to post of their swaps???? Please post if you do.

Still dealing w/ crazy weather. I need to go buy my piggies(chickens) some food and do some cleaning. I will pop back on when I feel the need to procrastinate in between chores.

Haha! Glad your daughter likes the "mess ups". I don't have any pics cause I can't find my camera but the mess is slowly being whittled down so I'm sure I'll find it soon.

Sunny- i hope you find your camera soon. I meant to take pictures of the dishcloths before sending them but things were down to the wire getting them mailed before I left.

I won't be posting for a few days. Leaving my home in Maine this morning to attend my grandaughters dance competition in New Hampshire. Taking my crocheting with me so hopefully my daughter will drive! Have a good few days peeps!

Just stopping by for a quick hello~

I had to take my DD this morning to Walgreens take care clinic to have her required TB testing before moving into the college dorm. We wanted to do it locally since you have to go back after 48 hrs to read the results.

We came back home to check on the flock and take the dog's out before we head to St. Louis for the day. Going to do a little dorm shopping and then on to her doctor for a required physical. The physical at her doctor is cheaper than doing it at Walgreens. We were bummed we couldn't do it all at Walgreens today, but we'll save a little money and gives us an excuse to go to St. Louis for the day.

DD looked at the calendar and calculated that she has 22 days before she moves in the dorm, so she has made her "Bucket List" of activities she wants to do before now and then.

I keep forgetting to get my camera from DD. After I complete a full set of swaps, I'll post a pic of them and baby chick pics as well.

Cathy~ Good luck to your granddaughter in her competition. Have fun enjoying time w/ your family.

I'm taking my crocheting w/ me today as well to have something to do at Dr office while DD gets her physical.

My prayers go out to anyone that is traveling and/or dealing with loved one's illnesses. Betty your dog must have really loved you to want to be with you for so many years. What a gift!

My daughter and family have moved back to CA and are with me until escrow closes on their house. They have five very well behaved dogs, all large. I dog sat today while they went to the realtors and they were so good. I did another square while they slept the afternoon away.

Well we are getting close to the end of the sign up period. I need to get a count for who is planning on doing more than one set so I can include this info in the opening post.

Also if anyone has friends that were still thinking about signing up, but haven't done so yet, now is the time. The sign up period will close tuesday evening.

I have been working on a couple of patterns but still haven't decided which ones I like so I may just do a few of each. I will be doing 2 sets so I will go change that in the OP right now. I always get so excited about each swap right about now!

I've got my two patterns set, the 6x6 and a 6x12. I will be doing just the two patterns, but may change up the colors, depending on what other colors I come across in the swap colors. I have one of the 6x12 made, but not in the swap colors, just some extra scraps since I was just playing around trying to figure how to make it the correct size. I will post a pic of the 6x12 when I get one made up in the swap colors.
