Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Welcome bama gal. The more the merrier. I just came inside after looking at a lightning display to the east of us. Sure wish we'd get some rain out of it. The radar is showing it moving in this direction but I bet it dies out before it gets here. It's been hot and humid here today and it usually isn't humid here in the desert.

I'm using all different kinds of patterns since I downloaded a lot off the Internet and wanted to see how they made up. I look forward to seeing everyone elses blocks.
I hope you get some rain too! Hopefully the humidity means the moisture is coming your way. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. We still need it here as well. I love all the squares that you've shared already. Can't wait to see the other new patterns you are going to whip up.

How's it going converting your daughter to the chicken addiction.

Hi all! We have a unique event here on BYC as far as swaps go. I still can't edit today and the swap is supposed to be closed for sign ups.

I have contacted the mods to see if they can help me out here. On my posts I get no editing icon and I also get no link for editing the thread heading. I have edited it a couple of times already since the swap started and it was working just fine. I have no idea what is happening right now. I guess I'll have to wait until I get an answer to my query...

Kim I love all the links you post! Your presence on this thread is invaluable!!! Thanks for keeping things lively while I've been dealing with my technology issues (or lack thereof).

We have returned both the other signal boosters we've tried and are now ready to install yet another, more powerful, version. Hopefully DH can get to it soon since I am really tired of having no internet and no cell service. OK done whining! I've gotten a few patterns completed and I'm afraid I like them all, lol! Same thing, every swap! I will post pics soon I promise. The boxes are being emptied a few at a time and there aren't too many left to go through so I'm sure I'll find the camera soon.

BTW, Luna has been lying about her crochet skills! While she does stick to a traditional granny square, they are really beautiful! Hopefully she will post pics soon too. :D

OK, Happy Chooks is going to fix it for me. :) We are now closed for sign ups folks. If we have any other changes to make let me know soon and I will get to that asap. Thank you all for your patience!

Alethea hope you have a great retreat and safe travels!

Betty I hope the move runs smoothly for you and your DD.

Kim I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for the business to open on time and for a very successful grand opening!

Hope everyone else is doing well! Happy hooking!!!

We are looking for ideas to use the squares from our last swap to make entries for the State Fair. If you have ideas my 3rd - 6th graders could handle please let me know?

How about a scarf? With fringe? Too simple?

Maybe a simple rectangular purse with flap closure and shoulder strap.

Edited to add new idea.

Hi. Thank you all for your good wishes on my retreat. It was good and it is good to be back. It was fun reading three pages of posts .

Sunny-I'm sorry your technical problems continue. Who knows? if we can't close, we'll keep getting more participants.

Kate-Pillow covers can be made from granny squares, too.

The ideas for the 3-6th graders could make purses, just use felt to line the inside that could be hand sewn w/ a running stitch and won't ravel.
