Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

Since the deadline is the 30th I'll pass, but if there is a Fall swap please include me. I haven't followed since the change and this new set up can be a pain. The old one showed recent postings but this is hard to follow. I only follow certain threads. This would be one of them. Let me know when and if there is another swap. I'll subscribe to this one just the same. It will be nice to see pics of everyones work.

I understand. 26 days is not much time. Speaking of which, I better get off BYC and get some crocheting done!
Well I will admit to being busy with the garden and chickens. Built a new half hoop, hatched chicks and planted lots of things. Also baby sitting the Queen. Nothing gets done when she's here with me. We're to busy going to the park or feeding the chickens or just going for a walk. I always say, If I knew grandchildren were so much fun I would have had them first.

We recently spent the entire day and part of the evening at the State Fair. What a great day. I had to squeeze in the gut to get into that thing or she couldn't go on, but you know how it is. Anything for the Queen.

Ah grandchildren are the best! I agree it's much more fun being a grandparent. lol

This is all that is left of my Cafe Latte'. I love the color and know I will use more of it so I picked up another skein.
Haha! I was just thinking I am gonna have to get another skein of this color. It seemed like so much when I bought it I thought it would last forever. It really looks so good with the other colors and I love how it holds its shape. Though I have more left than you do. :)

These 12" squares really use up the yarn! I love them. I think they are my new favorites! Your DD is right. It won't take many of these to put an afghan together!
That is about how much I have left of the red.
Not sure why I have so much red left. Red is my favorite color. I will have to start doing more in the red now. I love it with the Bone and Latte.
Woo Hoo down to 9 1/2 to go!!!!! Been waiting to post until I got into the single digets. lol
YEA!!!

Love this one. Yes the latte does hold it's shape much better then the softer ones, but they feel so good. lol
And measuring the soft ones is a challenge, I swear every time I try to measure them I get a diff number!

Rancher-I'm sorry you missed out on this one and glad you are interested in the next. I, for one, have missed your gentle good humor. There have been some ideas expressed about future swaps, but nothing has been decided. Hang in there and keep on hookin'.

Sunny~ Your butterfly square & rectangles are exquisite!!! WOW!!!!

I think I used most my Cafe Latte' on my 6" squares b/c I only have about 3 of the 12" squares complete. That was #4 (12") in the works in the pic. My red & perfect plum are getting a wee bit wimpy as well, but going to see how far they will go. Most likely will have to purchase more of those 2 colors as well.

Thank you! Yes I agree. It is hard to decide on one or the other. I am a sucker for the soft feel of the "wimpier" yarns too. :D

Thank you Kim! Yea I thought I had stocked up enough on my last run (2nd trip for this swap) but I underestimated again. LOL That's OK. DH doesn't notice how much yarm I'm buying if I do it in stages. I need to get him into crocheting like his Doc suggested. Then we can enable each other the way we do with chickens.

To be honest Rancher, that is one of the reasons I looked forward to you joining this swap. DH's Doc has suggested he take up a new hobby that requires a brand new skill set to improve memory functions. He has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers (he's only 60) and she says creating new pathways in the brain for some reason help the whole brain stay healthy and crochet is a unique skill that requires concentration and a different skill set than he is used to.

He is actually all for it but also worries a bit about what the "guys" will think about it. I hate for him to think he can't ever be proud of what he's creating and feel free to show it off! I knew you would be a great role model in this area.
