Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

What lovely Christmas ornaments. I love that NFL afghan also. The snowflakes in the afghan are crocheted into the block (hexagon) and there are filler motifs in smaller circles of white with the blue around them. They make up fairly fast but they're more solid than lacy. It should be very warm.

Fried chicken tonight with biscuits and gravy, left over salds and maybe a butternut squash and watermelon from the garden.
Mmmmm sound's good! I was out running errands til late so we did the grab and go thing. I took 3 bites and had had enough so now I'm hungry again. haha
You got it

. Plus the weather outside is condusive to staying inside, so why not turn boring string into amazing things? If it was snow, I would be out skiing. As it stands, I am thinking my poor chickens might need some webbed feet. The horses look like drowned rats.
I agree! Cold weather is great for crocheting. I don't ski so when we take the kids snowboarding (actually they take themselves these days) I sit in the lodge and crochet still. Everyone in the family skis or snowboards except me.

OK let's see if I can get these pics to upload. This is a lot harder than it looks folks. Not only did I have to stand on a ladder to take them, cause I only have a zoom lens right now, but I had to decide which ones out of all the gorgeous squares to take pics of!!! Wow it was hard to only pic a few for each pic! You are supposed to be able to click on the shot for a bigger picture. It worked for me. Anyway here goes...

Alethea's Sorry there were too many here and I tried to show too much.

Beth's - BtownChickMom

Diana's - MAGNOLIAKY59

Kassaundra's

Cathy's - MaineGigi

Betty's - Desert Willow

Kathy's - Kreative Kat

Kim's - Smitty's Farm

Luna's - Casa de la Luna

Mine - SunnyDawn

Whew! I know it's just a small sampling of each and you gals would not believe the variety that most folks put in. Normally you see one or two patterns but most of these are sooo varied. The only way too see them all eventually is for everyone to take pics of what they receive when they arrive. :) I don't know if I'll ever do the kind of variety I did here ever again. IDK why but I just couldn't settle on a pattern to use for all of them!

Apparently I'm not the only one. lol

So now we are just waiting for 3 more packages (4 more people). When I receive those I will try to get pics of them too before they get mailed off. I so want to get to the part where I get to hear your reactions! These are really some wonderful squares and I know you will all love them! :D

You are very welcome! I felt bad at the beginning cause I had all those internet issues but it has turned out to be a great swap in spite of my being MIA often. I am sure that is due to the wonderful folks we have in this swap like you! Thank you Kim for keeping things going when I couldn't. This swap would not have been such a success without you!

Wowie Zowie. These are beautiful. Thank you for the pictures, Sunny.
No problem Alethea. You are very sweet to have participated in this swap even when you are not receiving. I know everyone is going to love your squares that you are donating! Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

If anyone sent squares that should have been here by now but none of your's are pictured above then let me know! We need to track your package, if this is the case, because I took pics of all the packages I've received. :)

Sure are pretty blocks. They'll be interesting to join together. There is a great variety since we all interpret a pattern and selecting colors differently. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!

Cool weather is here....Yeah!....It was 48 when I got up this morning. They're predicting showers tonight and tomorrow and we are leaving in the morning for the coast for a few days since we didn't go on our big trip. I hope it doesn't rain the whole time we're there. I'm sure it will be chilly though.

Ahhh, 50 would be a heat wave!! Last Halloween we had snow.....am hoping not this early. We had a really mild winter last year but we're due for a bad one. A few years ago we had 29 days of snow all in a row! Man, that was insane. I think we had like 8 feet or so. Bleckkkk

Might as well settle in for my long winters nap! Those afghans will come in handy!!

Enjoy your trip! DH and I are heading out for the weekend too for our oldest GD's B-day. I have a friend watching the place though and collecting mail so any blocks arriving will be safe. My Dad will be here too but it's hard for him to bend over to retrieve packages (or feed chickens). lol

It was 29 here this morning. I was feeling sorry for myself til you posted a temp of 24. I'm afraid the few tomatoes I'd hoped to harvest froze on me. I'm always hoping for winter to hold off for a couple more weeks but it rarely does. We never get 8' of snow! I hear stories of 6' of snow a few months before we moved here in '95 but the most I've seen here is 22".

Haha! I start dreaming of retirement in a tropical local about this time every year. It is still very nice here during the day but the nights are getting pretty cold. I am such a baby in the cold! I can handle temps up near 100 without complaint (more if I'm in the shade with a spray bottle) but I just feel like I'm gonna die in the cold temps! My Hubby calls me his lizard for that reason. I've often wished I could just slow my heart rate way down and hibernate for the winter like a lizard!

29 days of snow in a row?!!! I'd never survive!!! UGH!
Yeah last winter was super mild here too. I think that was true of most of the country.

BTW HookedOnStitch pmed me to say her blocks are on their way!!! YES! That only leaves 2 parcels and Kate said she was shipping hers last Saturday I believe. We are almost there!!! I won't be on-line while we are gone but I will update everyone when we get back. I was hoping to be able to ship before we went out of town but it will be fine to ship them back out early next week. I'm just so anxious because I know you all will love them!
