Summer 2012 Granny "Square" Swap (sign ups closed)

I got the red, the bone and the 3 metallic colors (green, ivory and blue). I may go back and get the purple I haven't decided.

I should have picked a pattern first then I would know what colors I'm using for sure but I figured they were nice colors to have around even if I don't use them all (this is how I end up with so many boxes of extra yarn).

I went looking locally tonight and all Wally World had was the Caron-bone. I'll either go to Lancaster or order on line for what I want. It was hot here today-105 and no wind but it's supposed to cool down again in a few days.

Ouch! 105 is even a little warm for me. It was 91 here today which is perfect for me. We had a slight breeze all day so it was actually quite nice.

Sorry Wally World didn't have any of the other colors.

HAPPY FRIDAY~~~~

Sunny~ PRETTY!!!! Hahahaha!!!! Just yesterday I was thinking the same thing that I should have picked my pattern first, but was so excited to find some of the colors at Walmart that I had to grab them.

I think I still want the metallic blue and maybe the light purple (Lav Bluee). I have the darker purple (Perfect Plum) and it is very pretty. Oh yea I'm sure I will end up with more stash to go into my bin. I'm such a yarn hoarder!!!

Betty~ WOW!!! That is HOT!!!! We were in the 90's last week. It was so hot & humid. I thought we were jumping right into summer, but he rain has cooled things off. It got down in the upper 40's last night and is in the 50's this morning. So weird to go from sweltering to chilly. I think it will climb to the 70's today. Very strange weather.

It's been years since I've had the opportunity to be hot. I hope I can thaw out some day. Meanwhile, I've made a square. It is the most complicated square pattern I've done. I hope I get to the place where I don't have to keep looking at the instructions.

Nice to be able to talk to folks that understand the yarn hoarding thing. I'm not normally the type of person that saves much but yarn and material are definitely my weakness!

I hate to be cold. I would rather be too hot any day then to be too cold. I can't believe I live where it snows now! The winters here are very chilly and I always said I would never move where it's cold! Oh well, life happens.

Can't wait to see a pic of your new square! The harder patterns take a little longer to get down pat but you'll get it, I'm sure!

Oooo, I was hoping someone would post pictures!! Those colors do look really good together. And I like that pattern! I've been "playing" all day, looking at patterns and trying them out. I've gotten two finished so far...

Yea! I love them all! So pretty!!!
I can't believe we have finished squares so far ahead this time. OK I deserve a break from packing. I'm gonna go try to decide on a pattern!

Oh! What pretty colors and squares. I have some 12" patterns I downloaded and some have flowers in them. I love the flowers, but I haven't tried any of them yet. I will probably do more than one pattern like I normally do. The rectangle will be interesting to work with I'd think. The book of motifs I have might yeild something where I can use four motifs joined to make a 12" square. The possibilities are endless aren't they. Another hot one today-105-but is to cool down again by Monday. What weird weather.

Wow sure hope it cools down for you soon! It was only 80 here. We had some light showers come through and it was a nice partly sunny day. Beautiful clouds but thunderheads were brewing and the threat of dry lightening makes me very nervous! Sage brush and cheat grass catch fire so easy and fires, unfortunately, are pretty common here.
