Sunny~ I hope your move is going smoothly! I am loving the colors you picked for this swap.

Betty~ WOW!!! You are having some crazy hot weather so soon. I hope you get some relief soon.

I still haven't been to the store to check out the other colors, but I have been looking at patterns. Can't wait to find one so I can get started. Tonight I worked on DD's afghan. It's getting bigger. I forgot to take pictures of the beanies I made for DD to take to camp w/ her for the campership fund, but maybe DD took some. She said they auctioned for $55 each. YAY!!! It's for a great cause! So happy happy they brought in a little money to help send a kid to the wonderful camp.

I have not been able to find either of the purples that are on the list. I've gone to two JoAnn's, two Wal-Mart's, Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Purple being one of my favorite colors, I really wanted to find one or both of them, I head to Baltimore on Monday... then to Connecticut... maybe I can find them in one of those states.

My first is a 12" sqaure. I have another swap that I am doing that is 12" squares and wanted to try this pattern but the colors I am using for it just did not seem right... now I had the chance! The inside bunches up so I had to block this one to get it to the full 12".

WOW! Congrats on the very successful fundraising effort!

Kathy that square is beautiful!!! Love the contrasting colors!

Congrats Kate on being free for the summer. Hope you have fun!

That is a pretty square, Kreative Kat. I haven't done much research on patterns yet, just the download for the 12" ones. I hope to go to Lancaster this coming week but if I don't I'll order on line. I spent yesterday putting window fans in the office and the spare room/sewing room windows. What a difference they make. Anyone that lives in a humid area doesn't know what swamp coolers/water coolers are but anyone living in very dry climates knows that these are cheaper to operate and work better in dry climates than air conditioning. We have one in the dining room window that runs us out of the dining room, kitchen and living room but the two rooms at the other end don't cool down much even with a window open partway. I thought I'd try the window fans that can be set to exhaust and do they ever pull that cool air out of the main part of the house into the rooms that get hot in the afternoon. Not basd for a $60 investment. They each cost $29.99. It's 107 today so it feels good to stay inside. Cool weather on the way by the beginning of the week and maybe snow in the mountains. Go figure, weather.

I'm working on a runner for my dresser in pale blue and it is a stinker. I am doing it in a filet pattern and it's really pretty but I'm thankful it comes with diagrams as well as written instructions. Why this caught my eye I don't know but I'm too stubborn to quit and find another. I think it will get better as I get used to it.

Have a good weekend everyone......

Wow. You all are making some beautiful squares.

Betty-Swamp coolers are great. I learned about them when I lived in Bakersfield.

Hi everyone~

Thank you Sunny!!!! DD said there was quiet an interest in the beanie that had the camp logo stitched on it, so I think I'll make some more to send to her at camp to distribute to the staff.

KreativeKat~ Thank you so much for sharing pics of your squares. Very pretty! I love them, esp the second pattern.

Kate~ YAY!!! On your way to summer freedom! Yipppeeeee!!!!!!

Betty~ I hope your new window units give you some relief in your extreme temps until the cooler weather gets there. I've never heard of swamp coolers, but always lived in humid climates.

That is a great idea! We have the same issue here except it is icy in the back of the house and warm at the front since the swamp cooler is at the back. I guess it's a moot point though since we are moving next weekend.

I'd love to see a pic of the runner when it's done. Sounds very pretty!
I really like the contrast these jewel colors have with the earth tones. Another 12" square...

Another beauty! Thanks for the pics!

Oh they will love that! That is so sweet of you!

Just thought I'd log on to look at all the pretty finished squares again before I go to bed. Tonight I'd alternate searching patterns with working on DD's big ole' afghan.
G'night!!!
